"Miss 5" Christine Ng has been feeling excited lately because her new series Beauty At War is airing on April 22nd. War and Beauty was a huge hit back in 2004 and now that the sequel is finally airing, as one of the female leads, of course Christine is feeling anxious.

Christine frankly expressed she personally enjoyed watching War and Beauty and this time, she's apart of the sequel and feels especially excited. "I've always been a Jonathan Chik fan. I had already noticed him from the films he produced in his early years, but after so many years we only collaborated in ATV's The Movie Tycoon (1994); TVB's Cold Blood Warm Heart (1995) and CIB Files (2006), and still didn't really know each other well. This time, because the script was written on the spot, we had more opportunities to chat and get to know each other more."

Christine described her role 'Shun Tai Fei' (Consort Shun) as a woman with heavy resentment because right after she married the Emperor, he dies and she immediately turned into a widow. Because she had never been loved or got favored by the emperor, she turned into a ruthless woman, the one causing all the trouble in the palace. In reality, Christine has been happily married to her husband Kasey Lin for 14 years and had always maintained an energetic and positive attitude. She frankly expressed because her role is the complete opposite of herself, it was a challenge for her. "Usually when I start a new series, I do my preparations half a month before, but this time I spent 2 months prior to do the outline for the role. I watched the original War and Beauty and watched several other palace related dramas to use as reference. At home, I practiced how to walk with the shoes from the Qing dynasty and because I knew the script would be written as we are filming, I just had to practice my walking and then focus on my lines. But, honestly this time around it was quite difficult for me. The dialogue was really long, the language was too complex, I didn't even know some of the words and to top it off, the script wasn't complete before we started filming. That period, I really felt like I was taking exams, I had to memorize my lines every night. It was so stressful."

Christine expressed this is the most difficult series that she has ever worked on, but she didn't get depression like Sheren Tang did. "I really didn't think Sheren had any issues though! Perhaps because, that time we were all just so concentrated in memorizing our own lines, so all got anxious! I'm personally quite positive, very optimistic and I have never gotten so into character that my mental health gets affected too. (When you go home and see your husband, you forget everything?) This time, it has nothing to do with him! Its when I see my two beloved cats so cute, they made me so happy that I forget everything!"

When speaking of her husband Kasey, he makes surprise visits to the set and constantly takes pictures of his wife. In reality, Christine is certain she won't be a distressed woman. She laughed: "I'm not that stupid, I let all my unhappiness out! (You have such a great husband, there must be a lot of girls surrounding him?) If there are, that's normal. This means I have good taste! (Kasey cuts in: I don't let anyone get near me!) If he really does find true love, I would let him leave and won't stop him. I believe he would do the same for me. It's been so many years, we have mutual trust. We respect each other, so there won't be any 'imperial orders' nor do we check on one another. We take initiative to report of our whereabouts because we don't want the other to worry. All along, he has never done anything that crosses the line."

Yesterday Wayne Lai and Christine Ng were shooting for TVB new series Will Power. Christine collaborates with Fala Chen once again in this new series, coincidentally the two have the same birthday -- February 24th. Christine was asked if she took a day off to celebrate her birthday? She expressed work comes first: "I collaborated with Fala before, we both have the same birthday. Back then, I asked her if she's taking the day off, but she said no. Fala never takes off on her birthday, this junior reminded me that I have to make work my priority. Fala is a very professional artist! (How will you celebrate?) Not doing anything. First there's so much to do and secondly I don't want to bother my friends. At most, I'll just have dinner with a few friends or just spend the day with my husband!"

Wayne reveals while he was driving, he heard on the radio about the government making improvements on the housing policy for the new year. He feels there isn't enough substantive measures and that the HK housing problems are severe. When asked if he'll buy a home for his son? Wayne said: "Children should rely on their own efforts. Sonija Kwok is currently shooting TVB's Lunar New Year series, Record of the Fifth Day Opening and TVB initially intended to cast her in producer Tsui Wing Hong's new series Transfer of Love Firm (傳愛事務所) co-starring TV Kings Moses Chan and Wayne Lai. The other cast includes Fala Chen, Sire Ma and Susan Tse. However, Sonija's daughter is her utmost priority, therefore she decided to turn down the series and spend her first Christmas with her daughter instead. Although TVB high executives personally called her to discuss the series, Sonija still politely turned down the job.

Reporters contacted Sonija, when asked if she turned down the new series? She admitted one of the executives did call her, but because shooting Record Fifth Day is already too exhausting and the filming schedule of the two series are too close, she decided to turn it down. She said: "I'm pretty tired, its getting better now though. Before, I was working every day. I considered my current situation, if I had a month off before I start another series, then that wouldn't be a problem, but since I can't physically handle it, then I don't want to be working like this." When speaking of the cast for Transfer of Love Firm are all good actors? Sonija said: "I know! It's a pity, every one of them are really good artists!"

It was understood, Maggie Siu was first casted in this series, but then Sonija replaced her and in the end, Sonija withdraws as well. Christine Ng ultimately 'fills the shoes' for the two actresses who turned down the series. Christine accepted a telephone interview and expressed: "Actually I don't mind how many 'shoes' I have to fill for, just as long as the role fits me. Also, there are TV Kings Wayne and Moses in this series. What more can I ask for! Fala and I are very close, she's in this series too, so I really want to be part of it."

TVB new series War and Beauty II will officially start early next month (March). 'Yiu Fei' Sheren Tang and newly casted Christine Ng were at TVB City yesterday for their costume tryouts. Because the crew didn't want the costumes to leak, the doors were shut to prevent the media from taking pictures.

Yesterday morning, Sheren was back at TVB City for the costume tryouts. Just trying out the hairstyles took several hours. The crew saw the media at the scene trying to do interviews and quickly closed the makeup room doors. They even used paper to cover the windows in attempt to protect Sheren's costume.

Christine will be playing Sheren's good sisters in the series, but it is not known if there is a homosexual relationship yet. She said: "I haven't looked at the script, so I'm not sure how the relationship is like." She claimed that she's a brave and a surged artist. As long as it meets the scale of television, then she'll be willing to go for it. She also expressed she'll handover her life to producer Jonathan Chik and hope he'll really make use of her brave quality."

Anita Yuen and Christine Ng were recording for TVB new food show Cook Away Lady May. Anita joked that Christine and her husband Chilam Cheung is having an 'affair'. When asked of the inside story? Christine answered: "Because Anita is boring, so Chilam came to me. Chilam makes a lot of gags, but Anita didn't give him a reaction after hearing his gags, so its no fun for him. On the contrary, I'm the one who can laugh loudly and madly. That's why Anita said we have an 'affair'."

Anita said this time she came on the show because she wants to learn cooking. Last time she saw how to make ox-tongue pastry, it looked easy and suits her type. When asked if Chilam complained? She said: "I am pretty good at making fried eggs, my son says it's good too."

TVB game show What the Face? hosted by Christine Ng and Louis Yuen was recording the final episode last night. The two switched roles, Christine appeared as a man, whereas Louis appeared as a woman. For the final episode, Nat Chan, Kenneth Ma, Bosco Wong, Koni Lui, Nancy Wu and Mandy Lieu were invited as guests to pop the champagne for the celebration.

A few days ago, Joel Chan attended the blessing ceremony of his new series held at TVB City. He expressed he wanted to personally apologize to Christine in person, but he eventually changed his mind and said its not the right time yet. He will settle the issue in private later. Christine didn't give a damn about it: "I just feel the incident is over. I don't want to be talking about this forever. Aside from What the Face ending, I hope this topic ends too. (Joel Chan said you were once upset with him for a month?) Please do not talk about this, I have no comment."

What the Face initially had 15 episodes, but now 3 episodes were added and the show will now end with 18 episodes. Christine said she feels happy and that she will miss the show. She said: "I have always been the 'Queen of Guest', and this is my first time actually hosting a show. Although it was difficult, I am grateful of producer Chin Kwok Wai and Louis Yuen, giving me so much leeway to display myself. I hope there are more hosting opportunities in the future." Christine expressed after this show ends, she will continue working on her Beauty Salon business. She will also be discussing a contract with TVB, which just lacks the details now.

It was rumored because Kenneth Ma wasn't invited to shoot the Triumph in the Skies II sales presentation clip, people suspected he isn't part of the cast. Regarding this, Kenneth said he's unsure, but does not mind at all. He said: "The Sales Presentation has always been done for the advertisers, the cast is unconfirmed. Although TVB hasn't talked to me about TITS2, but I heard I will be participating. Of course I do hope to be part of the cast." Asked when the series will start shooting? He reveals he heard from an informed person that there are still some issues, so probably not too soon.

It’s a Truth or Dare? game that went awry, said TVB actor Joel Chan regarding his strained friendship with former close friend Christine Ng.

Their recent falling-out has done further damage to Chan’s already tarnished image following his high-profiled relationship with Florinda Ho, the daughter of casino tycoon Stanley Ho.

Earlier on, Ng fumed on Weibo that she severed ties with a friend after she received a call from the person telling her not to bother staying in touch anymore.

Five days after the incident, Chan, 35, admitted that he was the person that Ng was referring to in an interview with Hong Kong famous radio personality Eileen Cha, blaming the incident on the after-effect of having a few drinks.

“I was celebrating my birthday with a few friends. We were playing Truth or Dare?. I was drunk when someone dared me to call a friend and sever ties with him or her,” he said.

He explained that the first person that came to his mind was Ng, whom he perceived as the most open-minded among his friends.

“When I reached her, the first thing I told her was: ‘Please don’t look for me anymore!’ She just replied ‘Fine!’ and ended the call straightaway. I tried calling her afterwards but she didn’t pick up,” recalled Chan.

The severity of the problem finally hit home when he read the news as well as the various posts on Weibo. That’s when he frantically tried to call Ng for multiple times but he still couldn’t reach her.

A remorseful Chan added: “I planned to look for her but she never returned my calls. We have known each other for years. I used to think she could take a joke like this. I never expected it to backfire. I hereby apologise to her!”

Asked how he’s handling the bad press following his relationship with Ho, Chan said the criticisms came as no surprise.

“Everyone has different opinion. I respect that. Florinda has been supportive of me,” he said, admitting that he faces huge pressure.

“Actually I work very hard like everyone else. I can’t possibly explain everything and can only accept the comments,” he said earnestly.

Apparently, Chan’s public apology did nothing to save his friendship with Ng. She remained cold and refused to comment on his explanations.

“I’m very confused” was all she said. She was not alone. Tavia Yeung, who is a close friend of both the stars, also found Chan’s reasons unacceptable.

“I’m not going to judge whether or not this is true, but if he indeed did something like this for a game of True or Dare?, he deserves what he’s getting now. He’s an adult and should be held accountable for what he has done,” she said.

A few days ago, Christine Ng suddenly stopped following her god-brother Joel Chan and exposed "a good friend asked me stop contacting him". This led to goodbye for the two friends and since then, they broke off relations. Although Christine didn't reveal the name of that 'good friend', many people believe it's Joel Chan. Christine was recording for TVB show What the Face last night, initially she said she would only allow pictures and will not do any interviews.

Later, Christine accepted an interview by TVB E-News and stressed she will not comment. She expressed the incident is already the past and she has already let it go. She will not comment again. Asked if she feels disappointed? Christine laughed: "If I had no hope, then how would I be disappointed?" When asked if she encounters this 'good friend' on the streets, what would she do? Christine looked at her partner Louis Yuen and used the lyrics from Far Apart (Andy Lau): "If I encounter him on the street, I would nod as the greeting and then I wouldn't know what to say!" What if she meets his girlfriend (Florinda Ho) on the streets? Christine said frankly she would just nod too.

Although Christine Ng lost a friend, her relations are still excellent. Following the incident the other night, Christine and her husband Kasey attended Calvin Choy and his wife’s wedding anniversary party.

Calvin and his wife celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary, the other night a group of good friends attended the party at a hotel in Wan Chai. Chilam Cheung, Anita Yuen, Kathy Chow (Man Yi), Remus Choi, Edmond So, Cally Kwong, Sherming Yiu and several other friends attended in formal wear.

At the party, Christine went flying all over the place. She took pictures with good friends Kathy Chow and Anita Yuen, and drank with Chilam Cheung. On Weibo, the two posted a photo of them pretending to kiss. Chilam said: “We are drunk!” Christine refuted and said she wasn’t drunk: “You’re drunk, accusing me? You were taken down by my team!” Later, Chilam claimed he was the ‘friend’ Christine was referring to the other night. He said: “Clearly, Christine’s ‘Don’t contact me ever again!’ the person was me! Hahaha.” Christine still hasn’t revealed who the ‘friend’ is, but Chilam claimed he was the friend? Christine teased: “You bad boy, you are a good ‘brother’ that can’t keep secrets, but I love you.”

Yesterday at midnight, Joel Chan uploaded a photo on Weibo of himself with a birthday balloon and announced it was his birthday. Many good friends from the industry including god-sisters Christine Ng and Sharon Chan wished him a happy birthday. Joel’s girlfriend Florinda Ho didn’t reply until 5am. She posted a photo of herself with a cake she designed herself for Joel. Joel immediately replied: “thx my love”

However, about 20 minutes before Florinda’s birthday wish post, Christine suddenly made a heartbreaking post on Weibo. She wrote: “Just before I went to bed, a friend called and told me not to contact him ever again! So upsetting! I already said goodbye for good to him! This is too disappointing! Doesn’t your conscience feel uncomfortable?” Christine deleted her birthday wish comment she wrote for Joel and also stopped following him on Weibo.

Once the message was out, many good friends ‘spoke out’ in support. Sharon Chan comforted Christine: “Some people is already muddled into the brain by money and fortunes! … … From now on we will go our separate ways!” Sharon also deleted her birthday message for Joel and removed him off her list of following. Seeing many friends comforting and supporting her, Christine had always been strong and replied again: “Friendship is actually equal, we were once no strings attached.”

Reporters contacted Christine to ask if Joel was the ‘friend’ she was referring to? She said: “I never named anyone. You all can guess whoever you want. I just passively ended a friendship, unhappiness will only be for a short while. When fate ends, just have to let go, it’s ok! Friendship is like taking a bus. There will be people that come and go, if he wants to go then go. Some people might take a million years before they get back on the bus, but I know he will not come back on again because I will no longer open the bus door for him. Weibo is a place for people to express emotions. My little sister Sharon was just expressing her anger too, she isn’t trying to get publicity.”

Yesterday reporters passed on the news to Florinda and she was asked if she’s worried people might think the person Christine was referring to was her boyfriend Joel? She said: “I don’t know what’s happening. She didn’t say any names, but I completely trust my boyfriend that he’s a very good person. I don’t believe he will do something that will make people unhappy.” Christine initially happily watched the fireworks and sent her birthday wishes to Joel , but not long after she angerly expressed a ‘friend’ personally made a call to her and said they should break off all relations. She immediately posted the news on Weibo and got support from many friends!

Earlier, the office to Christine Ng's healthy beauty brand opened. She and her husband invited good friends to attend the opening ceremony, but many of her good sisters like Anita Yuen, Tavia Yeung and Myolie Wu were unable to attend due to having jobs on hand. Christine instantly got "upset" and wanted the ones absent to buy 100 boxes of her products as a punishment. Among them, Anita Yuen needs to buy 4,000 boxes, Christine said: "Anita is my warmest good sister, she couldn't come, I'm very angry at her, so she has to be punished! Earlier there were rumors saying that during the filming of [The Beauty of the Game], Christine Ng and Sharon Chan teamed up to boycott Kate Tsui because Christine and Kate did not get along. Yesterday the three of them attended the promotional event for their new series. Sharon and Christine were clearly on the same page in the conversation, but Kate seems to be out of it.

Another cast member from the series Jeanette Leung wore a sexy outfit to the event, joining the battle and stole the limelight. Afterwards Sharon revealed that she and Christine had already talked about what to wear beforehand, she expressed: "In the series, the three women fights fiercely, lots of scheming. I have not played a villian for such a long time, this time it's a breakthrough for me because I'm playing an actress who does drugs. (Does this series reflect reality?) Pretty much, I don't let them get up top, I will fight with them. During filming, I was not happy how pretty they were." Sharon also expressed that if [Beauty] gets over 30 points in TV ratings on the first week, she'll reveal her long legs. If it reaches 40 points, she'll reveal her back. For other sexy reveals, she'll leave the responsibility to Christine.

Christine denied to the rumors that they were boycotting Kate, she said that when there are many girls together, there will be more gossips. Asked if the series reflects reality? She said: "Outsiders don't see me like that, they see me as the happy type. But little promotion is ok." Speaking of Sharon Chan's comment about the three fighting in reality, Kate said: "She's just joking. The stories written by the magazines are even more exciting than the actual plot in the series. But gossips allows more attention given to the series from the audience."
