Depending on his good speaking skills, Amigo Chui became the main MC for TVB. In 2009, his reputation hit rock bottom when news broke out that he beats his girlfriend. Later, he was caught drinking and drinking as well as driving without a license. Later year, he took initiative and resigned from TVB. June 2011, he switched to behind-the-scenes and only made HK$9,000 a month as an assistant director (PA)

During the toughest two years, Amigo was still wanted by NOW, Ricky Wong and other management companies. Although he engaged in self-discipline and wanted to repay TVB's understanding for him, he insisted to stay as the PA for TVB. January of this year, he was arranged to co-host JSG Selections with Eric Tsang. It was said he received only HK$2,000 for the job.

According to an insider, Amigo initially was suppose to make a comeback on-screen, but since he agreed to help producer Tsui Yu On on new sitcom Love . Return Home, his new contract won't be in effect until May 1st. According to the source, Amigo is able to make this comeback because of 'backup support' from three of TVB's big players including Virgina Lok and Catherine Tsang.

Yesterday Amigo accepted an interview yesterday and admitted that he did sign an artist contract with TVB again. He insisted: "I really have to improve. PA and MC are two different types of work, it's just changing work environments." When speaking of TVB valuing him and increasing his salary? He said: "This time, I am very pleased by the adjustments. I will work hard." He reveals his family is very supportive of him going back on-screen, when speaking of his 'intimate friend' Natalie Tong? He said: "She supports me too."

Virgina also supports Amigo to make his comeback: "After all, he has been with TVB for so many years and can assume personal responsibility. If it wasn't for all those things that happened before, his future really did look good." Virgina said a few years ago, he really did feel down and when discussing with her, he teared up: "He just felt he lost all hope."

Amigo Chui’s career hit an all-time low following the onslaught of numerous negative rumors, including the 2009 beating of ex-girlfriend, Elizabeth Kwong, cheating on Natalie Tong on numerous occasions, and driving during a license suspension. Last year, Amigo bit back his pride and was demoted to a TVB production assistant. It was rumored that prior to former TVB executive, Stephen Chan’s departure from the company, he helped secure on-camera hosting opportunities for Amigo once again.

During Amigo’s career lowpoint, former girlfriend, Natalie Tong continued to remain by his side to offer her support, sparking frequent reconciliation rumors. Earlier, Amigo, his mother, and Natalie were spotted sharing a Lunar New Year dinner at a restaurant together. Amigo declared his intention to once again pursue Natalie once his career was stablized.

With Amigo successfully resurrecting his hosting career once again, Natalie however was spotted spending increasingly more time with androgynous former DJ, Vera. It was speculated that once deeply injured in her love relationship with Amigo, Natalie may have changed her sexuality preferences. Last night at 10 PM, Natalie was spotted with Vera in Happy Valley. Both women wore caps to avoid public scrutiny and ate dinner together at a restaurant, while sharing heartfelt conversations for over an hour.

The “masculine” Vera stepped outside the restaurant for a cigarette break, often scouting left and right to watch out for Natalie. Discovering the reporter’s prescent, Vera quickly alerted Natalie, after which the pair paid for their dining bill and left the establishment. Natalie deliberately pulled down the visor of her cap and drove away in her car.

Fighting for Natalie’s Love
Although it was exposed that Amigo Chui had cheated on Natalie Tong on numerous occasions, he still treasured his love relationship with her. With his mother in tow and inviting Natalie to a Lunar New Year dinner, Amigo’s reconciliation intentions were apparent. Although Natalie loved Amigo loyally for many years, the emergence of close friend Vera may pose as a serious challenge to Amigo. It was unclear who will emerge as the final victor to Natalie’s heart!

The other night, Amigo Chui appeared on-screen to MC for the JSG Best Ten Music Awards. He expressed his feelings for this opportunity: "I am very happy to be able to step back on stage for JSG. I have to thank Mr. Stephen Chan for his appreciation all along. He is my mentor. My first program and this current one was Stephen that asked me to do it."

Amigo admitted he was nervous on stage, since after all it has been a period of time since he last served as a MC. He was not completely ready and clearly wasn't as good as before and had to make pauses in his speech. As for his future jobs, Amigo frankly said it is not set: "I want to continue being a MC and production work, but right now I'm still an assistant director."

Amigo Chui has an image of a playboy, always popular with the girls. During his 6 year relationship with Nataile Tong, he was often exposed to have met with other girls. Although Natalie said every time that she already let it go, but she turns around and gives in to Amigo and gets back with him. Earlier it was discovered that Amigo was driving during his license suspension, his career hits rock bottom and TVB freezes him. In the end, they even requested for him to terminate the contract early. On the surface, Natalie draws a line with Amigo, but every time when she's asked of his current status, she only says they keep in touch by phone and that there are no chances of them reconciling.

Amigo's monthly rent is HK$8000 for the old village house in Sai Kung. The most surprising is that Natalie is hidden in there, this proves that the two are back together. A very shocking scene for people. However this time, their secret interaction is handled very carefully. If Natalie parks outside of the house, then they can easily be discovered. Instead, Natalie rather parks in the village next door and then takes several minutes walking down the small path to her boyfriend's village.

The day before at 5pm, when it was pouring in rain, Amigo who appeared in a green T-shirt came out of the house with Natalie with an umbrella. They walked together back to the next village to pick up her car. Amigo attentively helped Natalie into the car and later she drives him to Tseung Kwan O plaza to pay for his phone fees. After she drops off her boyfriend, she immediately leaves.

At 7pm, Natalie drives back to Amigo's house alone and takes out some clothing from the trunk. Then she walked straight down the stairs and into her boyfriend's house. However, during her walk back there was a dog that barked madly at her and frightened Natalie so much she didn't dare to move. She stopped for a moment and then speed walked away from the area without looking back. When she got to Amigo's house, his room was lit. Reporters waited late into the night and still did not see Natalie leave.

Yesterday morning, reporters continue to wait and only saw Natalie's white Beetle in that same parking spot. Amigo's mother came out in the afternoon to dry clothing on the balcony. This is when Amigo's mother saw reporters waiting outside and immediately went back to tell Amigo.

Amigo: We are just friends

At 8pm, Amigo finally comes out of the house and takes the initiative to ask reporters: "You all waited for a long time? What are you waiting for?" Reporters asked if he and Natalie got back together? He smiled: "No, we are just friends!" When reporters wanted to ask again, he went back into the house, perhaps to tell Natalie.

Amigo Chui's chain of negative news has greatly damaged his image. Following his beating girlfriend and drunk driving cases, in January, Amigo was put on hiatus by TVB due to his violation of driving during his license suspension. He had no income for over 4 months and earlier TVB executive Virgina Lok suggested that he switch to behind-the-scenes work. After meetings over the last few days, Amigo decided to terminate his contract and end his relationship with TVB. He is ready to start his new life.

Yesterday Amigo accepted a phone interview and expressed that his TVB contract was terminated last week. This decision was based on several factors and he hopes that everyone will give him some space. However, he does have interest in behind-the-scenes work and wants to try both TV and movies. Will he participate in Eric Tsang's movies? He said he has talked to Eric about it, but nothing has been confirmed yet. He will be resting for the next several months, but will he have financial problems? He said he is a normal person, need to find jobs.

Virgina Lok expressed that Amigo does not need to compensate TVB for the contract termination because Amigo's Mainland jobs scheduled earlier can fill it in.

A month ago because Amigo Chui was caught drinking and driving, his license was suspended. Severely damaging his image, TVB cut all his jobs, but he still has several years left in his contract. TVB executive Virgina Lok persuades him to change to behind-the-scenes work.

Virgina said: "I talked to Amigo earlier over the phone about this way out and to get the details of his disposition. He has talent, and it will be a waste if he doesn't be in this industry. However, he affected himself. Honestly speaking, it is not possible for him to have a glamorous life (artist life) in the short run. He is still young, he should try to switch over to behind-the-scenes work, even start from the bottom and work his way up. (TVB giving him an opportunity?) Not TVB giving him the opportunity, it is the fact that audience won't accept him. If audience accepts him, we can give him work, but getting complaints will just ruin him."

Has Virgina heard back of Amigo's decision? She said: "He needs some time to think about it, hope he can go think of it proactively. I am meeting with him next week to discuss about the matter. (Ask for Stephen Chan's advice?) Didn't discuss with him, nor did he come discuss with me."

Since the exposure of Amigo Chui's driving during his license suspension period, he is aware he's in deep trouble and has gone missing. According to news, the police is considering on conducting an active investigation on Amigo. Preliminary investigation involves collecting evidence. Yesterday the Police Public Relationships Branch (PPRB) told the media that they will first need to get a detailed understanding of the situation. TVB's official program Scoop followed up on Amigo's case with the PPRB. PPRB expressed no response will be given for individual media reports.

Amigo lives with his brother and mother in their Lung Ha Wan residence in Sai Kung. Yesterday, reporters visited the residence and did not see Amigo's car parked in the driveway, nor were there any lights on in the house. The doors and windows were completely covered. The place was empty, looks like the whole family went for a "dive".

Regarding Amigo's hosting jobs, TVB first took him out of JSG and tonight's live broadcast of Yan Chai's Charity Show 2011. Yesterday after a meeting, TVB decided to take him out of the JSG recording next Wednesday and next Saturday's 'JSG Selections' too. All of his jobs are put on hiatus indefinitely. Seems like Amigo's career has entered the frozen stage.

Yesterday, TVB Foreign Affairs Director (Tsang Sing Ming) said the Artists Department already got the details from Amigo. As far as taking a break, it is Amigo's personal decision and TVB approved it. Asked when he's going to be done taking a break? Mr. Tsang said: "Don't know yet, for the Yan Chai MC, we already found someone to replace him." Tonight's broadcast of Yan Chai will have three MCs including Anderson Junior, Toby Chan and Anna Yau. Producer (Mak Jan Tung) also admitted that TVB has suspended Amigo's job as the host for JSG. Mimi Lo will continue the job as the JSG host. Currently, Paisley Wu is being contacted to fill Amigo in. As for the very last JSG episode Amigo hosted for, that will broadcast as scheduled.

Amigo Chui's negative news comes one after the other. Early last year, he was charged for assaulting his girlfriend, but the charge was later revoked. Late 2010, he was arrested for drinking and driving, the court suspended his license for 9 months and he had to pay a HK$6000 fine. Initially, he made it 'over the threshold' with a new start to clean up his bad record. Unfortunately, he did not take advantage of the opportunity!

The night before, Amigo made his first appearance on TV for the recording of JSG since he got in trouble with the law. Off cameras, he appeared serious and nervous. In fact, at that time Amigo was aware on the 30th of last month, he was spotted driving on Sai Kung to meet up with a good friend during his license suspension period. His entire journey was caught by the magazine reporters. No wonder he's feeling so anxious!

Last night, Amigo accepted an interview and tried to brush it off, he said: "To me, this show had a great influence on me. I can get a fresh new start. (Mr. Stephen Chan's return helped you get even more jobs?) I wanted to talk about this matter. At first, when I had no jobs, the media said it was related to him. Now that I have jobs, it is related to him too. What is the deal? My answer is that I will not answer this question."

After the exposure of him driving during his license suspension period yesterday, Amigo becomes the target of news again. He also 'went missing' and did not appear at TVB. Before when he was charged for drinking and driving, TVB held a press conference for him the next day, giving him the opportunity to apologize to the public and rescue his image. However, this time TVB seems to have given up on him, and ordered him to "take a break". Last night, Amigo was taken out as the Scoop host and his name was not on the MC list for this week's big show Yan Chai's Charity Show 2011.

TVB executive Virgina Lok has not responded to the media on this issue. The Yan Chai Charity Show 2011 producer (Mak Jan Tung) responded to Amigo's 'time off', he said: "Huh?! Such a big issue? I haven't received a notice yet, the Artist Department employees all got off work already. Wait until I get an understanding of the situation first."

Yesterday morning at 9am, Amigo Chui went to the court hearing for his drunk driving case. Wearing a dress shirt and a pair of glasses, Amigo appeared calm. The court said on October 26, 2010 at 3:30am, Amigo was driving on northbound Tseung Kwan O, near a police road block. He was stopped by the police and tested for alcohol content. The results showed that the alchol content in his body was up to 55mg. On that same day at 4:30am, he was at the police station for a breathe test and the results showed 35mg, surpassing the 22mg maximum. He was unwilling to provide further blood or urine testing, and was released on bail.

Yesterday afternoon, at 12:05pm, Amigo appeared outside the courthouse and generously stopped for interviews with the media and pictures. He expressed that he respects the court's decision: "I have to wait 14 days when the community service report comes out before I get sentenced." During the time, iCable reporters came to ask questions, but he ignored them. He later apologized to reporters: "Sorry, I cannot accept your interview."

Asked if the court decision was expected? Amigo said: "I asked my lawyer already, the worst case should be community service, a fine and license suspension. Right now, taxi is my transportation. (Don't need to go to jail, relieved?) Cannot say it like that, have to take responsibility of mistakes!" Amigo already has 4 different traffic convictions, will he quit drinking because of this? He said with hesitation: "Actually it's pretty hard, but I will try my best to cut down on the drinking, I won't drive after drinking again!" With that said, he got into a 7-seater van and left with his friend for lunch.

May 2010, Amigo Chui allegedly assaulted his model girlfriend Elizabete Kwong, in the end he was able to avoid getting charged by signing a HK$5000 1 year probation. However, during the probation period, he gets into trouble again as he gets arrested for drunk-driving. Yesterday Amigo appeared at TVB city to explain the situation. Besides getting scold at by his family, TVB executive Virgina Lok instructed that he must face the consequences.

Wearing a shirt and black framed glasses, Amigo was accompanied by TVB foreign affairs director (Tsang Sing Ming) to meet the media. Amigo made a public apology for his drunk-driving offense. He then explained what happened and greatly regrets his carelessness. He overestimated himself.

Amigo frankly said that he is willing to face any punishment, he said: "For the meantime, I can still drive, but in the future even if I drank a little, I won't drive. So much has happened lately, I believe there will be different types of affects, but I will be responsible." He expressed that he will resume his jobs as normal, but does not know if he'll be affected in the long run.

Last night, Amigo continued to host for Scoop as normal, he personally reported the news on his drunk-driving offense. He also apologized to the crew and viewers, he expressed that he really regrets his actions.

MC Jin sends his blessings
Replacing Amigo's hosting position for JSG, MC Jin heard about Amigo's drunk-driving offense and let out a "Wow". He said: "I don't know about the incident, I don't know what kind of reaction I should have. It's more important that no one was hurt." He said that he is not familiar with Amigo, but they do greet one another when they meet, so he hopes Amigo will be okay. Reporters said that there's no hope for Amigo to return to JSG, will MC Jin last as the host? He said: "This is not related, thank you TVB for giving me this opportunity, I will put in the effort to do it, but I don't know how long I'll be hosting for. In the future if TVB finds another host to replace me, I will accept it."

Earlier, Amigo Chui allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend Elizabete Kwong causing a huge wave, and resulted in a repeal of the criminal charge, signing a HK$5000 1 year probation with no criminal record. After this wave came to an end, another one starts. Yesterday, Amigo was arrested for drunk-driving. According to a reader who exposed the news, Amigo was driving near Tseung Kwan O when he was tested for blood alcohol level (BAL) and the results exceeded the maximum. He was immediately arrested for drunk-driving and will need to report back to the police station next month.

Yesterday reporters called Amigo about the incident, he admitted that he was drunk driving because that night, he was having dinner with a group of behind-the-scenes crew. Everyone had not seen each other for long, so they had a few drinks during dinner. He frankly said that after dinner, he sat around for a period of time before leaving in his car. Amigo claimed that at the time, he did not feel drunk at all, so he felt that he can handle driving back home himself in his mini cooper.

Amigo recalls the situation: "We were in Tsim Sha Tsui eating dinner, then I drove home. When I was passing the Tseung Kwan O Tunnel, there was a police road block and I was stopped by them to check. After taking the BAL, the numbers exceeded the maximum, it over 30mg. (At the time were you speeding?) I wasn't speeding, I didn't drink that much, just drank beer and did not feel drunk. But I do feel that this time I am at fault, must not drive at all after drinking, this can't be argued. I learned my lesson this time, I promise that this will never happen again."

Asked if he had driven while under the influence before? He said: "No, usually I would leave my car behind and not drive if I drank, never been like this before. I won't do it again." Asked if he's worried that his image will be damaged again? He honestly said: "I already been behaving myself in life , this time I really was careless, and I regret that. I really promise that this will never happen again. (Tell TVB about it?) Yes, TVB told me to just say it all out. I know this time it is my fault, it is most important to know you are at fault, don't do it again."

Yesterday Patrick Tang attended TVB's Sha Tin Moon Festival press conference. Although he was asked about Stephen Chan's corruption case just like all the other TVB artists, he still replied with "case has entered judicial process" and will not respond. However, he expressed that as a friend of Stephen's he feels worried and unhappy. Patrick sent SMS to comfort him and Stephen replied with a "Thanks".

Formerly part of the "Stephen Party", Patrick immediately drew a line, he stressed: "I am not. I will say that Stephen Chan is my mentor, I will not forget how much he helped me. I will continue to send supporting SMS to him. (Visit him?) Not at the moment, have to wait for the right time." It was said that the prosecutor charged Stephen with Article 9 under the "Prevention of Bribery Ordinance" and has obvious evidence, he can easily be convicted. Patrick was asked if he's even more worried? He said: "I don't know, not sure of the current situation and not convenient for me to say too much. I hope he'll be okay, and I do hope this can come to an end."

Also, Amigo Chui's support for Stephen will not change, he reveals that he has kept in touch with Stephen, he's emotionally stabled. It was reported that Amigo is trying to protect himself and tried to draw a line with Stephen, Amigo said: "There is no me without Mr. Chan, nothing can damage our relationship. I believe in him and will support him forever." Asked if he will be attending the court hearing next Tuesday? Amigo said: "If Mr. Chan wants me to attend, I will definitely go."

Currently not working for TVB, originally Stephen Chan is set to host new radio program on the 18th on Commercial Radio. He even invited Connie Chan Po Chu as guest for his first episode. But another saying is related to ICAC. TVB's external affairs director Tseng Shin Ming replied: "Mr. Chan notified TVB earlier that he would do this program. TVB's reply to him is it's not suitable at the moment." Commercial Radio released a statement yesterday, saying due to Stephen Chan's personal reason, the program would delay the broadcast.

In addition, Amigo Chui went back to TV city yesterday to host "The Scoop." Currently 130lbs, Amigo lost 15lbs compared to before. He frankly said he has mixed feelings of resuming work. If in the future he has a chance to report Elizabeth Kwong's news, he won't be embarrassed. This time returning to TVB, he didn't meet with high executives to talk about other jobs.  Amigo Chui's girlfriend assault case has been dragging on for nearly half a year, it was said that yesterday at the court hearing Elizabete Kwong suddenly agreed to let Amigo go and not prosecute him. The court sentenced him on probation for a year. Although Elizabete agreed to let Amigo off for the assault case, yesterday during the hearing she had a frown on her face the whole time.

No conviction, $5000 fine

The case was adjourned 3 times until 12:30pm. It was said that pleaded not guilty Amigo and his lawyer hoped the sentence would just be a probation and free of conviction. After hearing the suggestion and agreeing that it works, Elizabete agreed. The court eventually only sentenced Amigo to probation for a year with a fine of $5000, he is not to be involved in any violence with other people within the year, otherwise he will be convicted.

The Real Story

According to the case, on the day of the incident, a fight started between the two because Elizabete was unhappy with Amigo's ex-girlfriend calling him. Amigo ordered Elizabete to get her personal belongings and leave, he also requested that she delete all their shared photos and text messages from her cell phone. Elizabete refused to and returned to the room to pack up her stuff. Amigo stormed into the room and hit Elizabete's head from the back. Elizabete lost her balance and fell to the ground, Amigo then climbed over her and grabbed her neck with one hand and his other hand on her chest. Then Amigo searched her handbag for the cell phone. Elizabete then tried to snatch the bag back from Amigo and they were pulling back and forth onto the bed. After Amigo successfully deleted the text messages and photos from the phone, he gave the phone back to Elizabete and she left the house. Elizabete went to the hospital immediately after to get a body check, the medical report confirmed her neck and chest had red marks that were 1cm long and felt pain the right side of her head. Fortunately, there was no internal bleeding from the injuries. After the hospital, Elizabete went to the police station in Wan Chai to report the case. The police was able to recover the deleted photos and text messages from her phone and used that as evidence.

Initially Elizabete attended the court hearing as a witness, but because she agreed to let Amigo off, she did not testify in court. After the hearing, Elizabete and Amigo exited the court looking like total "enemies", they did not make any eye contact at all.

Amigo shouts a Thank You

During the hearing, the prosecutor read out the details of the assault case, Elizabete had a frown on her face and started tearing up, she was emotionally unstable. Elizabete's manager and friends accompanied her when leaving the court, where they were surrounded by the Media. Although she stood still for pictures, but when asked about her current feeling and if she's satisfied with her decision, she did not want to respond. She appeared absence minded. Her manager came out and helped her answer by thanking the media. They then left in a taxi.

Not long after Elizabete left, Amigo appeared with his manager. Amigo's manager read out a statement to the media that they are satisfied with the sentence and agreed to it in several aspects. The court sentenced Amigo to a year in probation to solve the disputes between the ex-couple saved both parties time and shorten the amount of court hearings. After the statement, Amigo expressed: "This incident has caused my family, friends and people that support me to worry. Now that it has come to an end, there is nothing to worry about anymore." Amigo then shouted out a "Thank You" in a good mood to the surrounding media and onlookers who were taking pictures. However, when asked about Elizabete's teary eyes during the hearing, Amigo's mother who was also present expressed that is pleased to know that nothing happened to her son.

TVB will arrange work for Amigo if compatible

Also, it was said that Amigo being with TVB had always had a bottom line, so when will he return to work? TVB Director of Foreign Affairs (Tsang Sing Ming) said: "His earlier hosting job on JSG has already been replaced by someone else. In the future, if the right job comes along, TVB will consider making arrangements. Also he still has a management contract with TVB. As to how many years left, that cannot be revealed."

Since his alleged assault on girlfriend Elizabete Kwong last year, all of Amigo Chui’s job responsibilities had been suspended and he had kept a relatively low profile -- until 4/26, when he returned to briefly host segments of the fundraising event Artistes 414 Fundraising Campaign. Yesterday, Amigo took on the responsibility of hosting the press conference announcing the upcoming charity event Voices for Africa Charity Concert. After the press conference, he publicly accepted an interview for the first time since the alleged assault incident.

Amigo said: “When I was hosting for the Fundraising show, I will admit that I was a bit nervous and shaky because I hadn’t worked in 4 to 5 months and all at once, had to face so many people. Today, the feeling is much better.” Regarding the rumors that Stephen Chan is planning to join a TV station in Taiwan, Amigo indicated that he was not aware: “We do get together a lot for dinner, but we only talk about personal stuff and never talk about work.” With Amigo having ‘zero job opportunities’ right now, is he worried about his financial situation? Amigo replied: “I have money saved up and not a whole lot of expenses, so it shouldn’t be a problem for now.”
