Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Yen Chi Tan two nights ago attended a cancer fund charity event. Currently working on a film in Shenzhen, Chi Tan deliberately returned to Hong Kong to attend with his wife Cissy Wang, but he looked scruffier and darker. He admitted that he recently has been working on a modern police film and slept for only two hours daily. Cissy revealed that Chi Tan's look scared their son so much that he did not dare to go near him, he even kept calling him "bad man". Luckily their daughter knew he was just making a movie. Cissy also revealed that recently she showed their son IP MAN, and their son said that he was "proud of Daddy". Did their son learn Wing Chun from Chi Tan in the film? Chi Tan said that he did not have to because his son already has his own fighting style. He also praised that his son had a knack for martial arts, but because he did not have time to instruct him Cissy has already enrolled their son in kung fu classes.

Ip Man actor Donnie Yen has been quite famous lately as the majority of his films in the recent years have made over a 100 million in the Mainland box office. Looks like the Mainland fans really love Donnie. Last night, Donnie was shooting in Shenzhen for Clarence Fok's directed film Special Identity (特殊身份). As the crew was filming a walk-through-heavy-rain scene, three streets were blocked off. Yesterday the crew posted a special announcement around the area notifying residents of the filming time, location and when the streets will be closed.

Unexpectedly the 'warm reminder' produced the opposite effect. The Donnie Fans and Netizens took pictures of the announcement and madly fowarded it online. Last night, a large group of fans and onlookers, over 10,000 people, gathered around the filming location.

Initially, Donnie just wanted to shoot the scene low-profile, but to his surprise there was a large crowd waiting for him like a turbulent. He was a little frightened and urged everyone to be careful. Director Clarence Fok expressed the situation was already like this earlier on and he also hired 70 security personnels to maintain order: "The security includes a person with authority and also the Public Security. It's considered a pretty stabled group of security people."

That night, a rush of water was to be poured to make a heavy rain effect. Lots of resources were used for this film, like three large water trucks and a large group of workers. In the film, Donnie plays an undercover, so he was dressed like a triad leader that night. He had on some bling including neck chains and a famous watch, which already valued at 2 million. Also, a famous tattoo artist spent about 4 to 5 hours putting a fake tattoo on him.

Hong Kong action superstar Donnie Yen held a million-dollar birthday party for wife Cecilia Wang recently.

Ever a romantic, Donnie surprised Cecilia (known affectionately as Cissy) on her 30th birthday with the party and even moved her to tears with a self-penned song called My Cecilia.

Over 60 guests were invited to the bling-themed party at Hong Kong Grand Hyatt Hotel. Among them were producers/directors Peter Chan Ho-sun and Raymond Wong as well as celebrity couples like Miriam Yeung and Real Ding, Chapman To and Kristal Tin.

Donnie's in-laws, along with his seven-year-old daughter Jasmine and three-year-old son James, were also there, while Cissy's younger sister Irene helped out with handling the party. The kids were seen entertaining their mother with a performance on stage.

"We planned the party for quite a while and Cissy did not know anything about it. Still, it's kind of hard to hide it from her. Donnie knows what Cissy likes, so he gave a lot of ideas on how to do it," said Irene.

Donnie, who was decked in a silver suit, footed the bill, she added.

At the party, the actor expressed his love and gratitude towards his wife, who is 17 years his junior.

"I'm thankful to my wife for everything. Without her, I wouldn't even be able to hold this birthday party," he said.

Donnie Yen and Shu Qi stars in Legend of the Fist Return of Chen Zhen (精武風雲‧陳真) and was one of the opening films at the Venice Film Festival. Though female lead Shu Qi is currently busy shooting another film in Mainland, she was not able to attend. However, that did not affect the success of the film in the location. After the premiere, the Film Festival chairman Marco Muller used three "really" to express how much he loved the film. He said: "I really really really love this film, outstanding. This will be a favorite film for all Martial Arts lovers out there, a mind-blowing martial arts film in the world." He also asked the director Andrew Lau to do a sequel.

Besides the good comments, the film also had new screenshots, where Donnie picks up Shu Qi in his motorcycle. Donnie recalled shooting the scene with Shu Qi, that they had to do 10+ takes before the director accepted it because the director hoped Donnie and Shu Qi would be able to show emotions, but cannot reveal them. Also, while filming a dance-wine drinking scene, the two had a very good time. Donnie laughed and said that during the shoot, it wasn't just them that were drinking, the director also drank with the two leading stars.

Since it’s Hong Kong theatrical release 11 days ago, the film [[Ip Man 2]] starring Donnie Yen has garnered HKD$28 million at the box office, with an unprecedented single day earnings (for 5/9) of HKD$3 million. With this type of box office revenue, not only is the film #1 in terms of single day earnings, it also #1 overall this year – currently leading [[Iron Man 2]] (box office revenue HKD$21.88 million), which premiered in Hong Kong theatres 1 day later. The box office revenue for [[Ip Man 2]] has also exceeded the HKD$25 million box office revenue that the original [[Ip Man]] film garnered 2 years ago.

[[Ip Man 2]] was also a box office success in mainland China, bringing in 100 million Yuan (RMB) in revenue in just 5 days. However, the film’s owner and executive producer Raymond Wong Bak Ming has indicated that the rampant illegal downloading of the film is a huge problem and has caused a potential loss in revenue of several hundred million. On his micro-blog, Raymond Wong wrote: “Someone has done something truly harmful by illegally recording the film and placing it on the internet for others to download for free. My understanding is that there have been over 10 million ‘hits’ to the illegal web version of the film, which has caused the box office revenue to fall by about half. I am afraid that the revenue won’t reach the 300 million Yuan originally anticipated – we’ll be happy if it ends up surpassing the 200 million Yuan mark slightly.” He has expressed that he will be pursuing legal action against the originator of the illegal download.

At the same time, some people are unhappy that the upcoming film [[Grand Master]] directed by Wong Kar Wei and starring Tony Leung Chiu Wai has been overshadowed by the [[Ip Man]] franchise, since both movies are the same subject matter, but because Wong Kar Wei’s film is still in production, it has not yet been released. A netizen by the name of Tonyleslie expressed that his favorite actor is Tony Leung (Chiu Wai), his favorite director is Wong Kar Wei, and the person he hates the most is Raymond Wong (Bak Ming), so he is planning on [illegally] downloading [[Ip Man 2]] for all his classmates to watch. In response to this, Raymond indicated: “I don’t understand this type of mentality…to be honest, I’m actually looking forward to Wong Kar Wei’s film myself. I don’t care if people hate me, but illegal downloading is against the law – and the person boasting about illegally downloading for all his classmates to watch? That’s the part that makes me shake my head in wonder!”
