Following 'First Sister' Charmaine Sheh ending her 'biological daughter' relationship with TVB, the company has been actively trying to keep their front line artists. TVB FaDan Fala Chen is rumored to be the next artist leaving. Fala's contract is expiring next month, but because Fala is not participating in any series for the rest of the year, it was rumored she is not planning to renew her contract. It was understood, TVB offered her 8 figures to stay, but Fala still hasn't made her decision yet.

According to a person working in TVB, Fala has successfully gained recognition and has very good 'audience fate'. In the past years, she's been given many other jobs such as commercials and shows, and earned a lot of money for her company. Also, she's a rare actress with fluent Mandarin, Cantonese and English, so many production companies in Mainland are interested in her. In the last three years, Fala has been accepting series after series, but we really haven't seen her working in Mainland like the other FaDans like Kate Tsui, Myolie Wu and Tavia Yeung. Actually, her opportunities went to waste time after time. Aside from the Mainland market, it turns out Hollywood film 007 secretly came to HK for auditions before, and Fala was the only TVB FaDan invited to participate in the auditions. At that time, several other western films had interest in Fala as well.

Taking Acting Lessons in New York

Fala had always been very conservative and she still has a month left before her TVB contract expires, but she still has not made a move. Reporters contacted Fala to confirm, she did not respond directly: "During this time, I have to talk to TVB about the contract. At this point, nothing is confirmed. I've been with TVB for 8 years, and really hope to maintain our good relationship. There is nothing unhappy that happened, it is just that I've been filming series for so many years, I just want some time off. (Why did you decide to go back and study?) I'm going to the U.S for continual studies. I've already registered for an acting class in New York and really want to expand my knowledge base. After all, since I graduated from university, my first job was at TVB. Since I entered the industry, I've only been filming TVB series and because TVB's series have their own style and beat, I started off with no knowledge, then TVB gave me a lot more opportunities and allowed me to understand what acting was all about. Now that I've been acting for a period of time, I believe there is a different way to act out each and every scene; sometimes I'm able to grasp it and other times I'm unable to. When I get off work and go home, I would regret not using a certain method to do the scene, then I start thinking that I'm lacking something inside. Especially in the last two years where I worked with many seniors and good partners. We go into detailed discussions on acting and I've read a lot of books on acting. However, books are always going to different from actual practice, so I've always wanted to leave the recording studio and go to different stages to perform to increase my self-value. I've been preparing for several years and mentioned this to TVB, so I'm taking this opportunity to go refresh myself a little."

It was rumored TVB offered her 8 figures to stay, does Fala feel the salary is the most important factor? She said: "I cannot comment too much on the salary, but I personally believe the most important is the opportunity for a good performance. To me, it is more important to have a new challenging role. (Is it because you'll be a wealthy wife?) Not related at all. I have high expectations on my work, I really want to have more good productions for everyone to see." Is Fala considering to go out and work elsewhere? Fala paused for a moment: "I've been working continuously in the past several years, every day was a sufficient day. I haven't really thought about this question, this is a very good time for me to think clearly about my direction and path to follow."

Even though Fala Chen and Vincent Wong are playing a romantic couple in the upcoming drama, "Will Power", rumour has it that in real life, the actor is considered no friend of hers.

As reported on Popular Asians website, tabloids reported that Fala's rich husband, Daniel Sit has been the cause of this rift - as the actress has been annoyed with Vincent's tendency to invite the Neway Star's heir out for late night drinking with his friends.

In an incident that happened recently, a drunken Daniel had behaved intimately with actress Sharon Chan after a night of outing with Vincent Wong and his friends. Consequently, Fala blamed Vincent for the incident and reportedly told her husband to distance himself from the actor.

When asked about the severed relationship with Fala, Vincent dismissed the rumour and said, "We're only concentrating on filming and rarely talk. Maybe everyone is on different levels."

Vincent also admitted that he and Daniel Sit are friends, and clarified that he had no idea Fala was against their friendship.

However, when questioned about the situation, Fala dodged the press and claimed she was busy.

It was reported that Fala has been anxious of her husband's whereabouts ever since Daniel was rumoured to have flirted with Hotcha's member, Regen Cheung while his wife was away from Hong Kong. Tabloids then claimed that Regen eventually quit the group and continued her studies overseas after being urged by the actress.

At most, I'll just have dinner with a few friends or just spend the day with my husband!"

Yesterday morning Fala Chen, Chilam Cheung, Myolie Wu, Francis Ng, Kenneth Ma and Elena Kong appeared at the airport ready for departure to Taiwan for Triumph in the Skies II shooting. Earlier when Fala was shooting in Europe, it was rumored she tried to seduce the married Chilam Cheung and his wife Anita Yuen was furious by this. It was also reported, Fala was the "Miss C" always late to work. This time around, Fala learned her lesson and arrived on time to the airport to meet reporters, but instead her rumored partner Chilam Cheung was late. The two did not have a chance to meet at all.

In regards to all the negative news surrounding Fala lately, she said: "I have always been the one provoking and offending people, but this also proves people are following my TV series. I'm already mentally prepared to accept the 'killer' reports, especially because Taiwan isn't far from HK, I bet the paparazzi will definitely be following us. Any place where I'm around, there will bound to be all kinds of news, so other artists won't have to worry, I will assume responsibility to all negative news!" Fala explained again that the photos published on the magazine were all from the series. In private, she and the cast had a great time eating together, but [the media] didn't get pictures of those gatherings. Also, she will not deliberately keep her distance from them. She reveals she will be working in Taiwan for 4-5 days and then start on a new series when she gets back to HK.

Chilam denied his tardiness was due to avoiding Fala. He expressed he did not see the magazine report, but photos published on the headlines is not surprising at all. He said: "When we were shooting in Europe, the reporters were surrounding us like a group of friends, but it's strange, I don't know why the paparazzi knows our filming schedule nor could I tell if the reporters were TVB hired. I just acted naturally and I don't feel like I'm being monitored." Chilam expressed he won't deliberately keep his distance and his wife is very understanding, he said: "There is no need to explain anything, we all know the rules of the game. My wife is in the industry too, she knows how its like. Actually, what I'm wondering is, how does everyone know my schedule."

Triumph in the Skies II just finished shooting in Europe and the cast are now back in Hong Kong. However, Fala Chen was not only rumored with the married Chilam Cheung, but someone claiming to be a friend of a TVB makeup artist exposed on Weibo that "Miss C" was frequently late to work. Each day, at around 5:30am, "Miss C" has to get her makeup done, but she gets to work 2 hours later. The staff exposed: "Are you here for vacation or for work? You don't even understand the fundamental of being punctual!"

Once the comment was posted on Weibo, Netizens began discussing on who this "Miss C" might be. The only actress by the surname of Chan who went to France for TITS2 shooting was Fala Chen. One Netizen even criticized Fala, because she already has a wealthy boyfriend, so she "could careless about work"!

Yesterday afternoon, Fala got back to HK. She accepted a telephone interview with [The Sun], she admitted she had been late before, but there is a misunderstanding. She explained and emphasized that since shooting started, she follows the work schedule exactly, she said: "All along, I have only been late once or twice and each time it was 10 minutes late at most. I didn't affect the shooting progress at all." She explained there was miscommunication with the behind-the-scene staff: "The misunderstanding was caused by miscommunication within the staff, but this misunderstanding had already been resolved. This trip was tiring for us all, but we all had a good time with the crew, very good team work spirit and what makes me most unhappy was all the gossips created by the magazines."

On Weibo, Fala wrote: "Self Reflection: Don't assume others know me and understand me, sometimes that's how misunderstand arises. So, don't think its troublesome to communicate with others. Being considerate of others, taking the initiative and another step can probably save the work and render better outcomes. Additionally, sincerity, honesty and tolerance is the best solution. If I did it, I will admit it. If I didn't do something, then I will go find out if there is a misunderstanding. As a team member, I did a self-reflection on how I could be more considerate of others. Ultimately, there was an issue that arose. I'm still busy discussing with you all on how to respond the the public as a public figure and to protect this team. Turns out, I'm wrong. I was thinking too much!"

Nancy Wu & Producer Supports Fala's Professionalism

TITS2's producer (Au Koon Ying) accepted a telephone interview and defended Fala: "The filming schedule in France and England was very tight and the sunset is really early there too, so we have to start working at 4-5am every morning. The makeup artist said she didn't write that Weibo comment. She only vented to her friend before, but then she later realized it was just a misunderstanding. She explained to Fala already and her friend deleted that Weibo post."

Reporters checked the Weibo again and discovered the makeup artist's friend did indeed delete the "Miss C" comment and replaced it with an apology: "From today on, I will no longer say harmful things about people. Please all, start from doing your own part!"

Nancy Wu and Francis Ng are also part of the cast of TITS2 who went with Fala to Europe. Nancy supported Fala that she has a professional attitude: "I don't feel that she has a bad attitude at all, but actually she's very into her work. Every artist has their own makeup artist. Even in HK, artists may not appear at the same time as the makeup artist. This time, we were shooting overseas, perhaps its just miscommunication." It was said Fala is acting like a big shot, Francis expressed: "Fala usually does her own makeup, I am more worried about other people."

Yesterday Myolie Wu, Fala Chen and Francis Ng were shooting at the airport for TVB new series Triumph in the Skies II. The scene was about Myolie encouraging Francis to pursue Fala. Myolie expressed in the sequel, she turns into Francis' sister-in-law, but they are still considered good friends. She is also very excited to be shooting in England and France later, and due to this, she will not be able to attend the TVB Anniversary Gala, but may be able to rush back and attend the anniversary awards ceremony at the end of the year. She said: "I already chose my outfit, it's a little sexy and hot looking." As for the TV Queen battle this year, she expressed she doesn't have too much confidence and will be supporting in the audience. She supports Tavia Yeung to get the award this year. When she support Bosco Wong for TV King? Myolie was unwilling to mention Bosco and expressed she supports Kenneth Ma. She also joked if its going to be public voting this year, she hopes she won't have the fewest votes.

Fala had a hand-holding scene with Francis, when asked if the scene gets even more intense? Fala said Francis plays a very serious and strict guy, but behind the cameras, she's actually very funny. He's like two different people. Fala expressed Francis is very willing to teach her acting and filming with him feels like she's in class. In the series, she also sees him as a mentor. As Fala will also be shooting in England and France, she won't be able to attend the TVB Anniversary either, but she can avoid all the 'TV Queen' gossips. It was said, this year is a battle between Tavia and Kate, Fala expressed she collaborated with Tavia a little more, but Kate is very hard working as well. We will just have to wait until the awards ceremony to find out who wins. "I'll be happy if Chung Mo Yim (Queens of Diamonds and Hearts) is part of the nominations."

Fala called Francis her mentor, he laughed: "Anyone who gets tormented by me says that." When asked what he thought of Fala's performance? He said Fala is a very hard working person, but is too rational: "When she was studying at university, she was very rational. She goes seeking for the results one step at a time, but acting is not about the results, it is about finding the cause."

Also, the day before Fala and Chilam Cheung were shooting a dating scene in Central. Chilam was seen with his head on Fala's shoulder. After they completed the scene, Chilam got into his HK$3 million sports car and left, while Fala left with the crew.

Moses Chan and Fala Chen were guests at a NIKON event. Moses frankly expressed he is often capturing the beautiful moments with girlfriend Aimee Chan. Even if he's just using his phone, he still snaps pictures of them dating. However, he was unwilling to disclose if their photos of them kissing or being intimate, he just expressed his girlfriend liked his picture taking skills. When asked if he likes to take pictures of coffee or Aimee more? Moses said: "It would be best if she holds a cup of coffee, the best of two worlds."

As for Fala, she claimed herself as photography lover. She said when she goes on vacation, she must have her camera by her side. Whether if it she's just taking photos of herself, others, the scenery or even fireworks, which is very challenging, she can always find a good angle. However, she expressed she rarely takes photos of her boyfriend, but instead she loves to secretly snap photos of elderly couples from the back and natural photos of children.

Fala used to be a goddess to the 'home boys and girls', but lately the title has been taken by her two juniors Christine Kuo and Eliza Sam. She said: "Christine and Eliza had asked me my secret of learning Cantonese. It is good to have newcomers, and I've given them encouragement as well to really put in the effort. What I have discovered is that the 'goddesses' usually have poor Cantonese. When I first came to HK, my Cantonese wasn't good either, but its getting better now."

Fala Chen appeared at the Switzerland skincare brand La Prairie's evening banquet with a hoarse voice. She reveals she's been coughing for half a month and still hasn't recovered yet. However, she's still trying to withstand it, so she could continue shooting her new series (TITS2) and go overseas for stage performances.

Fala said: "Lately, I've been flying all over the place for work. I just got back from Toronto and haven't had time to see the doctor yet. I've just been relying on generic medications. That day, there were 5,000 people watching me perform, initially I was afraid my cough would affect my voice, but luckily Grace Wong, who accompanied me on the trip, prayed for me. When I got on stage to sing, I was surprisingly fine, but after I completed the first song and went backstage, I started coughing nonstop again. Such a miracle!" Is Fala's boyfriend worried about her? She said: "We haven't had time to see each other, but he told me to take care." Fala feels singing with a hoarse voice is a style of its own, therefore even with her sick voice, she still insisted to sing live. She explained: "I've never lip-synced before because matching the lip movements with the song is very difficult. It's risky. I rather just sing live. It's been a month since the release of my album, I was informed earlier that my album has maintained a spot in the top three best selling albums at the HMV CD stores. I'm very pleased to hear this."

Fala Chen is busy shooting for new series Triumph in the Skies II and so her boyfriend Sit Sai Hang, Neway Prince, had to find his own entertainment. Then [FACE] called Vincent to find out what's happening. He said because he was a Neway Star artist several years ago and became good friends with Hang. He said: "Because Yoyo's birthday is coming up, so Hang invited us out for dinner to celebrate." Asked why Fala didn't go? Yesterday Fala Chen attended an event for toothpaste brand Colgate. When asked if she wants her boyfriend to brush his teeth before he kisses her? Fala said embarrassingly: "I don't know how to answer. Usually I brush once in the morning and once at night. Sometimes, I brush after having hot pot too. I hate the smell of garlic, so anyone who had garlic, don't get near me. I won't be able to handle it." Fala is currently busy shooting new series Triumph in the Skies II, and will have kiss scenes with both Francis Ng and Chilam Cheung. She joked she'll bring toothpaste with her for the cast to use.

When speaking of a recent magazine report saying that she was displeased with the songs in her debut album, all being adaptations of Mandarin songs, so she called the boss of her record company and scolded him. Fala expressed: "The songs in my album were chosen by my company. It's not related, there was one song written by a friend and the majority of them were chosen by my company." Will she ask her boyfriend, Neway Prince Sit Sai Hang, to help her sign a new contract? "They are two different companies. My management is TVB, I don't want to go through a huge circle. It's already enough that he spiritually supports me." Although her current singing contract is about to expire, she believes she'll definitely have the chance to release a second album in the future.

Yesterday Fala Chen was promoting for her debut album Beautiful Life at the HMV CD store. Since the launch of her album last week, it has already climbed up to first place on HMV's 'Asian Album Top Sales Chart'. Fala happily said: "There were several thousand copies in the first batch, never thought the album sales would do this well. At some CD stores, it was sold out. After all, there is some pressure for artist-turned-singers."

Fala is currently under Rising Star Music, whose parent company is Stars Shine. Earlier Stars Shine's boss Herman Ho admitted Fala's contract is expiring soon and expressed they only wanted to help Fala fulfill her dream of releasing her own album. After her contract expires, she'll get back to acting and won't be singing anymore. Herman also expressed for the next half year, Stars Shine, will focus on promoting their favorites Linda Chung and Joyce Cheng. So, does that mean Fala is left out? Herman explained: "Fala is shooting a series, and can't make time to do promotions, but Linda Chung has time. (Jinny Ng is going to take over and be the Big Sister?) What is Big Sister?"

Yesterday, Fala denied that she's an 'One Album Singer', she said: "I am currently busy shooting Triumph in the Skies II, but I can still handle both singing and acting." Fala denied that she's in disagreement with Herman Ho because TVB is still her management, so she won't be contracted with a single record company for long, but instead TVB contracts her out to the record companies. She said: "I still have one or two months left in the contract. As for my record company for next year, TVB will handle it. I'm definitely going to continue singing."

When speaking of Triumph in the Skies II, her co-stars Myolie Wu and Kenneth Ma recently had dating rumors, but Fala expressed they haven't joined the crew yet, so she's not sure.

Some people often put 'Change' at the tip of their tongue, but often there are no actions made. On discussion forums, Fala Chen is known as 'Fala BB', a goddess who is already standing firm in TV and film, and recently became a singer. Aside from going after the TV Queen award, she's not even going to let go of the Most Popular Female Singer! Fala said before she had no ambitions, but she's actually been the choir since youth and had dreams of becoming a singer. This dream started even before her wish to be TV Queen: "I really like to sing. I wanted to be a singer earlier on. From middle school to college, I've been a member in the choir and always go out for performances. I really enjoyed it."

Solo Unfolds Her True Self

Chorus and solo are two different things. Fala's love for solo singing started from chorus: "When I was studying in college, I was very busy, but no matter how busy I was, I still wanted to sing in the choir! That time, I started doing musicals and had a solo, it was one of the happiest moments in my life!" Reality is cruel, after entering the entertainment circle, Fala participated in at least three series per year, and she had commercials and other stage performances: "I was really busy the last several years, didn't even have time to eat. Luckily I had a few opportunities to do stage performances and sing. It was not only then that people discovered that Fala can sing! In fact, it's really about fate that I could be a singer, TVB had been helping me find a record company all along and at the same time Stars Shine wanted to recruit singers. Stars Shine really has put in a lot of resources on me. They didn't care whether if they would make any money or not. I knew this opportunity isn't bad, and if I miss it, I don't know when there will be another opportunity!"

Charging into TV, Film & Music

In the past, Fala only sang other people's songs. Today, she has her own songs and excitedly said: "It feels good! It's like a dream to have my own songs! I know I'm still far from being a professional singer, but I didn't know how to act before either. It's through all the training, that I am where I am today. I have confidence that I can do it! As an actress, I pretend to be someone else, but as a singer, I can be myself and truly display the real Fala!" She believed success or failure does not lie in whether if she makes money or not: "Does it have to be that my album sells well and that my songs are a great hit, that I'm considered successful? If I don't try new things, then how will I know if I can do it or not? Becoming a singer is a dream of mines, now that my dream has come true, I have nothing to lose!" When asked if she does well in both the TV and music scene, how will she choose between the two? The greedy Fala said: "Are there any heavenly kings or superstars that don't find a balance in different fields? I really hope one day I can have agony on whether I should be a singer or an actress, I would tell myself, I want to do both!"

[Excerpt from Apple Daily] Nowadays singers' standards can really be heavily criticized, Teresa Carpio once said being a singer is easy, but they may not necessarily know how to sing. Fala agrees. First time performing live on JSG, she was very nervous and resulted in heavy criticisms on her getting off-key. Fala views this experience as a benefit: "When I sang live at events before, I sang other people's songs to entertain the audience, that's not as stressful because I wasn't a singer then. Many times, my thoughts about a performance is the same as acting. If I can't concentrate and get into character and the story, then I won't be able to cry. On JSG that time, I learned a lesson that I must have a 100% good performance in the future. If I'm not at the right state before going on stage, then I will start feeling afraid on stage. Soon after, that same week, I performed live again and I did better. My heart was not beating as fast, haha. It feels like after the first kiss. On the second kiss, you won't feel as nervous!"

Fala learned a lesson and reflected on it. She knows she needs time to improve: "Reality won't allow me to be like Teresa Carpio, train for several decades, so I can only do my best and learn from each experience and make improvements. I believe even a person who really knows how to sing, being on stage for the first time, they will be very nervous as well." [Apple Daily]

Last night, Fala Chen and Raymond Lam attended The Night Before Exam Results' Release event hosted by apm in support of the Hong Kong student exam takers. Fala said when she was in middle school, she was already studying overseas, so she never experienced this type of pressure of waiting for the examination results to release, but she did have a different type of pressure. Fala said: "Although we don't have that great of a pressure overseas, but waiting for the colleges to send acceptance letters is actually pretty stressful too. When you see a large envelope in the mail, then you would be really happy and feel relieved because college acceptance letters aren't in small envelopes."

Has she encountered any setbacks back in her school days? Fala laughed: "When I was young, I was very naughty. I remember when I was in still Mainland, in the first grade, I got a 0% on one of my tests, so I was unwilling to put my name on it and refused to turn it in. When I got home, I got hit by my father. Since then, when I got to middle school, I started behaving and my grades started going up as well. However, when I attended college in the States, I got my freedom back, freely going and in out of he classrooms, there was no pressure."

As for Raymond, he has also experienced the pressure of waiting for the exam results. He attended middle school in Hong Kong and only had average test scores. He said: "No matter what, the most important is that I've put in my greatest effort. Its important to have support from loved ones, and shouldn't give too much pressure. I remember when I was in middle school, I rarely went out late at nights, but the day before the results are released, my parents would allow me to have a day of fun."

Raymond hopes every student finds their right direction. He has been through it and can be their example. Back then, he was not used to going to school in the States, and left college before he completed his degree. Fortunately he didn't take the wrong direction by entering the entertainment circle. He has been working in his first job until today, so studying is not everything, knowledge is just to set the foundation for the future.

In the recent year, record company Stars Shine has collected many singers, including Fala Chen, Linda Chung, Joyce Cheng, Alfred Hui, FAMA, Elanne Kong, Herbert Hu, Jinny Ng, Cilla Lok and the group Super Girls. Yesterday Stars Shine celebrated their 2nd anniversary and the establishment of the new label Sing Yeung Entertainment (星揚娛樂). The majority of their artists attended the anniversary celebration, except for Linda who is currently shooting in China. The boss (Herman Ho) announced that Fala Chen is Sing Yeung's first singer to release an album and her debut album A Beautiful Life is releasing later this month (July). Fala's mini film MV for her new songs Half (一半) and Atonement (贖罪) premiered at the event as well. It appears Fala is the big sister at Sing Yeung.

Linda had always been one of the boss Herman Ho's favorites and sits on a stable position as Stars Shine's big sister, while Fala takes the big sister spot at the new label (Sing Yeung). Dressed in a short attractive yellow dress, Fala denied she's big sister. She said: "Of course I would spend more time promoting for my new album instead. (Stars Shine heavily promoting you?) No, I'm a newcomer, a TVB artist has lots of opportunities. (Tell your 'husband' to sweep all the goods (her album) for you?) What husband? Who are you talking about? (Sit Sai Hang?) I don't know, ask Mr. Sit."

As for Joyce, she lost her voice due to fatigue of her throat and went to the emergency room not too long ago. When asked if her rumored Korean model boyfriend Jin knows about her condition? Joyce said: "What boyfriend? He's a male friend. He knows I'm unwell, many people care about me too." When speaking of her company Star Shine planning to heavily promote Fala? She said: "In my dictionary there is no jealousy or envy. I'm not afraid my company will put all their resources on Fala, I'm going to be releasing an album soon too."

Yesterday Fala Chen attended a RTHK event with Elanne Kong. Previously Fala messed up on her live singing performance on JSG, and this time she performs her song live once again, still appearing nervous, but she's still satisfied with the performance. She said: "I can still improve. Also, I have been taking lessons all long, there is no limit to learning." It was reported that Kay Tse signed a HK$2 million contract and joins her company Stars Shine to compete for the Big Sister position with her? Fala said: "How can I be qualified to compete for Big Sister? Behind Joyce Cheng and Elanne Kong, I am still a newcomer. In fact, it's not bad being a little sister, I'm still young."

It was rumored Fala's boyfriend, Neway Prince, Sit Sai Hung is the secret owner of Stars Shine, but Fala said that's an enormous misunderstanding. "I am just a small singer that TVB outsourced. Stars Shine's boss is very low-profile, I never even met him before."

Elanne appeared in a short dress, but when sitting down she carelessly reveals her white undies. When her colleague, below the stage, hinted for her to cover up, she quickly got up. Reporters teased she defeated Fala? She said: "No, her long dress is pretty too. (Rumored Kay is joining your company as Big Sister?) There isn't any Big Sister or anything in our company."
