HONG KONG : Hong Kong actor Francis Ng was on Tuesday charged with wounding a man during a New Year's Day scuffle at a bakery, Hong Kong media reported.
Ng has been granted bail and has to appear in court on February 9. If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of three years in prison.
The 48-year-old actor was arrested on the night of January 1 for allegedly causing hurt to a man while at a bakery in Kowloon.
According to media reports, Ng's Singaporean wife, Ong Lay Pheng, had gone to the bakery to buy some bread while the actor waited in the car. There, she asked one of the staff who was sweeping the floor to stop what she was doing as it stirred up dust. A man at the bakery then began to argue with her and hurled vulgarities at her.
When Ng rushed into the shop when he heard his wife shout about wanting to call the police.
Police said that Ong and a 29-year-old man were sent to hospital after a physical altercation at the bakery which allegedly involved Ng.
Ong fell during the incident and suffered injuries to her knees and waist, while the man claimed Ng had caught him by the neck and hit him, causing his left ear to bleed.
