According to producer Lee Tim Shing, the series will be 25 episodes – he and writer Cheung Wah Biu have already written the script for 17 episodes. In addition, this series will be Cheung’s last work before leaving TVB. Audiences have pointed out that in the first series, the love relationship between Fourth Mistress and Chai Gau was a bit reserved and not deep enough; therefore, Lee indicated that for the sequel, though the story will be completely different, the relationship between Wayne and Sheren’s characters will be much deeper and more developed. The background for the story will be the different events that occur in Guangzhou, China back in the time when they were under Japanese rule. Sheren will portray a female triad boss and Wayne will be a cop – they will develop a relationship in the series, but it will be one that is at a higher level.
Asked whether he is worried about rumors developing while collaborating with Sheren again, Wayne replied: “Not afraid at all! If there are rumors around the time the series airs, that’s okay, since we can just consider it promotion for the series. No big deal.” (Are you afraid that your wife will get ‘nervous’ and go with you to all the events?) “Well, right now whenever I work, she comes with me anyway.” (During the sales presentation, the clips for the series show you and Sheren hugging and kissing?) Wayne immediately replied: “Kissing? No, there was only a little bit of hugging.” (Any hopes of once again becoming TV King next year with this series?) “No point thinking about it right now. There’s no pressure at all – I feel very carefree and happy. All I hope for is that the series will get good ratings. Plus, this will be Cheung Wah Biu’s last series, so all I’m thinking about right now is applying 200% effort to portray the character well – hopefully, this series can be a memorable gift to him.”
When Sheren was also asked about the ‘kissing and hugging’ scenes in the sales presentation, her response was coincidentally exactly the same as Wayne’s: “Kissing? No, there was only a little bit of hugging.” When the reporter pointed out that her response was exactly the same as Wayne’s, she happily replied: “Really? The way Wayne’s character is written by the producer and writer – very sweet with a good personality, yet tough and protective when it comes to the woman he loves….I hope to find a man like that to be a lover.” In terms of whether she hopes to become TV Queen again with this series, she said: “My character is very challenging to portray – I actually haven’t figured out the best way to act out the character yet…all I can say is that the acting will be difficult.”
