Yesterday at 9:25am, Remus appeared in court accompanied by his older brother Calvin Choy and his wife, assistant and lawyer in a 7-seater van. In a black suit and standing at a very straight posture, Remus walked into the courtroom. At the hearing, the Judge followed up closely to Remus' crashing his car into the mailbox and still did not stop the car, but continued driving 200 meters before stopping. Remus' lawyer, expressed Remus just stepped on the wrong petal and stressed there was no evidence that the defendant deliberately didn't stop the car. For the plead, the lawyer stated Remus has 23 years of driving experience and has had a good record all along, never had there been an accident. Also, he is warmhearted in public service (charity). Also, Remus just got a new car and was not familiar with controlling the car that there was an accident.
Remus plead guilty, but the judge said the case is more serious than an average drinking and driving case. The judge ordered him to first do community service and report back. The next hearing will be held on June 24th. During this time, he will continue to be on HK$5,000 bail. When Remus and his group were leaving the courtroom, he remained for another hour before he was able to get bailed out. He walked out of the courtroom and was asked by reporters of his current feeling. He smiled: "Thanks!" Then he left with his Calvin and his wife.
