Yesterday TVB Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs (Tsang Sing Ming) expressed: "Both sides have sincere intentions to settle the issue. The royalty issues are still being discussed now, consensus has not been reached yet. Up until today, we still have not signed any documents, but we hope to handle it as soon as possible. As for the singers contracts that we are all most concerned about, TVB's contract policies for the singers have not changed. We will respect the contract terms, this is the business practiced in Hong Kong. Those who have a contract with us can only appear on TVB. The freelance singers can appear on other TV stations as they desire, TVB does not have any regulations on that. However, depending on the program needs or for good relations, arrangements will be made to appear on that program."
NowTV's executive (Ho Lai Chuen) publicly reveals the royalty dispute will be settled before the TVB Anniversary. Has the notice for the compromise been received? Mr. Tsang said: "TVB wants to emphasize, copyright and contract are two independent matters, cannot be confused with one another. Of course, we hope to resolve the issue as soon as possible. (Settle before TVB Anniversary?) I cannot say, just hope to address frankly. (Has TVB proposed the conditions for the compromise?) No, we didn't discuss this subject. We are still negotiating. Presently, no documents have been signed."
