TVB Celebrity News

Since TVB series Friendly Fire started broadcasting, it has been a hot topic. Last night, the series finale aired, it was a happy ending for the two main couples, Michael Tse and Tavia Yeung; Sammy Leung and Sharon Chan. The main villain Alice Chan got the consequences she deserved. In the series, Alice had been selling her "female charms", just like Sharon Chan's beautiful long-legs, Christine Kuo and Grace Wong's long career lines, and Samantha Ko's back-revealing rape scene. Up until last night's episode, Alice gave it all she got and revealed as much as she could.

Before the series aired, it was said Alice didn't have much screen time. It turned out she didn't just have a pressuring first appearance in the series, but she also showed a lot of her body figure and became a hot topic of discussion. In one scene, where Alice was dressed in a bikini to entice Derek on the yacht, the two were kissing on the deck until they got into the shower. She even revealed her back in the bed scene. Netizens praised she was extremely hot. Last night, Alice accepted an interview and said: "Thank you! Actually, its all superficial! I thought my first time portraying a villain was very difficult. I had to kill Benz Hui by running him over, then frame Derek Kwok and convince myself that all of that was reasonable and really turn into a true villain!" She laughed and said she successfully frightened the bystanders, they had "O" expressions on their face and immediately bounced back!

Audience points out the Most Unrealistic Parts

Also, it was said several scenes in Friendly Fire were unrealistic. First, Benz Hui was on a bike and moving faster than a car; After Benz got hit by the car and was severely injured, he was still able to get back up and ride his bike home; Benz didn't burst out blood and collapse until he got home to see his family. This was named the most ridiculous part in history.

Last year former ATV big sister signed a contract with TVB and participated in her first series Friendly Fire as a villain. This is Alice's first villain role, in the beginning Alice's acting wasn't as strong as one would wish. Her character name is "Pong Tit Sam", which can easily be connected to someone who has a heart of steel. Alice's personality in real life is exactly the opposite of her role, she said: "In reality, I don't really have much of a character and I'm easy-going. Comparing me to the words 'bad person' is like on two extremes, so I had to do a lot of homework prior to filming. On the surface, I have to show that I'm not really that evil, but in fact I'm so evil the juice comes out. I actually don't know how well I did in my acting, so will have to look to see how the audience reacts. I'll accept both positive and negative comments."

Alice also has several sexy scenes in the series. She has a chain of intimate kiss scenes with Derek Kwok, aside from the passionate kiss scene on the cruise in a bikini, Alice reveals there is another bold kiss scene in the bathroom. However, due to the limitations on television, that scene could not be broadcast. She said: "Actually, I never thought I could be sexy, but for work, I definitely have to accommodate. (Have to ask your husband?) He respects my job and understands that I'm a person who has propriety. So, he is not worried about me at all. One time when I was having dinner with my husband, we encountered Derek Kwok and I even told my husband that he's my boyfriend."

Alice's scenes won't be broadcasting until later, sometime in January, she laughed and said her first appearance would be pretty aggressive, "It's somewhat similar to Sharon Stone from the film Basic Instinct. She'll have a sexy image, but speaks in a calm manner!" Alice frankly expressed since she's a villain, she is ready to get scolded by audience. However, she is also grateful of Producer Man Wai Hung's appreciation: "That day, I went to TVB City just for a meeting, but once he saw me, he said the role really fits me and recommended TVB to sign me. I really have to thank him, for every scene, he personally came out to supervise the set." When asked if she's afraid the audience may have a set image on her for being villains? She said: "I hope my villain roles will give off different feelings and on different levels."

Alice Chan and Taiwanese businessman (James) have been married for 4 years. In the past year since her comeback on the television screen, it was repeatedly rumored that she and her husband's relationship had changed. Yesterday Alice responded to the magazine reports of her 'marriage in a state of emergency'. She expressed the report is not true and someone who has paranoia came up with the story. Coincidentally her husband was in HK, she gave him advanced notice that there was such rumors circulating, but they both felt helpless.

Alice admitted she rarely sees her husband. His highest record of business trips was 37 flights within a month. He just came back from South Africa a few days ago. However, their relationship is still strong and haven't been affected and even if there are negative news going around, her husband hasn't tried to persuade her to leave the industry.

She expressed her husband accepts her looking sexy for work, but she has to especially clarify her relationship with her in-laws. It was rumored she's not close with her husband's parents? Alice said: "My mother-in-law loves me lots, every time I go to the US, I would cook up a delicious meal for them to enjoy."

Lately there has been a shortage of TVB Siu Sang and FaDans, so many of the second line actors have the opportunity to move up. Amongst them is Matthew Ko, following his earlier appearance as Kent Cheng's son in The Greatness of a Hero, he has accepted three other series, advancing in his journey to become a front line Siu Sang.

However on Sunday (May 6th), Matthew had an accident while playing basketball and broke his right hamstring. He was rushed immediately rushed to the hospital and a cast was put on his leg. The injury looks quite serious as he had to undergo surgery too. On Monday (May 7th), [Sudden Weekly] followed Matthew as he transferred to a different hospital. He said: "I'm so unhappy, can't walk now. I'm really afraid I'll turn into a crippled man and I'm dragging the entire filming progression...I feel really sorry."

27 year old former Mr. HK winner, Matthew Ko, had several opportunities to be in series after the contest. However, the majority of his roles were just cameo roles. When Ricky Wong stomped into the television industry and started 'stealing' artists, there has been a shortage of TVB Siu Sangs. Since last year, Matthew had been shooting series nonstop. Earlier this year, he first collaborated with Myolie Wu in House of Harmony and Vengeance and then with Niki Chow and Michael Tse in Sergeant Tabloid. Just recently, he accepted three other series. A TVB staff reveals: "Many producers like to use Matthew because he's got the looks, he's obedient and on time. He's been working for 7 years and his acting has been maturing quite a bit."

'Girlfriend' really worried

It was understood after Matthew's accident, the first person he notified was rumored girlfriend Tracy Ip. On Tuesday, Tracy told [Sudden]: "I know he's in the hospital, and I already sent my regards to him. I told him to rest up. (Will you go visit him?) These things, it's enough that we both know. Hope he recovers soon." [Oriental Daily] Earlier Matthew was spotted having a girl sit on his lap at a bar, Tracy was asked if she's jealous? She said: "I'm not going to be jealous, he had always been popular. I am one of his fans too. We are friends, at most we are just a rumored couple."

Matthew participated in a basketball competition on Sunday night after he finished filming for new series Love Exceeds the Coastline and broke his hamstring. Reporters called Matthew on Monday morning and he explained the accident: "I was running when I suddenly had severe pain on my right leg. Then I couldn't run anymore. It was about 11pm then, so I could only go to the public hospital's emergency room for treatment. The doctor said I broke my hamstring and will have to undergo surgery to put it back in place. I am feeling very unhappy because I can't walk now, I'm afraid I'll turn into a crippled man! Aiya! I started working part-time since I was 15, and have never been out of work for this long!"

It was understood after Matthew's surgery, he will have to be in a cast for 3 months before he can get back on his feet. This means, he must stop working completely for these 3 months. Currently, he has three series on hand including Love Exceeds the Coastline, Justice Pursuit & Attack and Come Home Love. The series that will have the greatest impact due to Matthew's accident is Love Exceeds the Coastline with Raymond Wong and Aimee Chan. Not being able to work for several months, Matthew is very concerned: "I've already been shooting for some 10 days, this time they probably will get someone else to replace me! I just feel so sorry, I affected the entire filming progression. I hope I can get back to work as soon as possible."

Love Coastline's producer Leung Choi Yuen expressed: "Matthew plays a rich boy in this series, he has a very important storyline. There will be some affect, but we can still handle it. He said [we] will have to wait at least several weeks. This series really can't wait, so we are currently looking for other candidates to replace him and re-shoot his scenes."

'ATV's Big Sister' Alice Chan switches over to become TVB's FaDan. Yesterday she had a meeting to discuss the contract ('per series') at TVB City and will be officially picking up the pen soon. In April, she will be participating in new series Justice Attack (法網追擊). In 1996, after Alice won first place in the Miss Asia pageant, she joined ATV and had been heavily promoted to become ATV's Big Sister. In 2008, she married Taiwanese businessman (James Yen) and her acting career faded off since then. Alice has now become bored of being a wealthy wife and plus she's craving to act again, so she decided to make a comeback. The 38 year old decides to join TVB.

Alice praises her new company: "I look for the best work team, TVB is the only option. I'll be shooting new series Justice Attack in April, where I will be playing a strong businesswoman." In the past, Alice was ATV's Big Sister, and now that she switches to a new environment, she does not mind rankings. The most important is to gain recognition for her work and the pay is a 'comfortable price'.

Lately, TVB FaDans and Siu Sangs have been leaving TVB one after another and the company also has to make way for their current artists to have opportunities to make the extra Chinese yuan up north. Because of this, there has been a lack of artists. TVB's Production & Resource Director, Virgina Lok, can only go out and start recruiting new artists. Miss Lok reveals they have several new targets, she hopes to convince Stanley Fung to shoot TV series again. She said: "I have been discussing with Alice for nearly a year. Audience have pointed out there should be new and different artist pairings, this is good for the series arrangements and it is not easy to 'strike' artists." Aside from speaking with Stanley, Miss Lok will also make arrangements for Eddie Cheung to have other collaborations.
