Yesterday Andy Lau attended the press conference for the London Summer Paralympic Games 2012. He reveals he took 4 days off for his trip to London, so he can support the Hong Kong disabled athletes. When asked if he'll bring his daughter along? Andy smiled and did not respond.

Recently it was rumored TVB invited director Wong Jing and Eric Tsang to produce grand productions and cast superstars in order to rescue the company. Andy admitted Eric did contact him, but he asked to see the script first. If the script is suitable, then he may accept it. Andy said: "Actually I've discussed with TVB since the Mona Fong era. (But TV series shooting is laborious?) If I agree to participate in the series, then I will follow their way of doing things. I cannot ask others to accommodate me. (Wouldn't this hinder you from caring for your daughter?) If the filming schedule affects my everyday life, then I won't accept it. (Currently your daughter is your utmost priority?) My career comes first. (Can TVB afford to hire you?) This absolutely has nothing to do with money."

Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau has spared no expenses in ensuring his wife Carol Zhu delivered her baby in peace.

He reportedly splurged on an S$2,704-a-night room for Carol during her stay in the hospital to deliver their firstborn. The ward boasts of tight security that helped block the swarm of reporters, trying to catch a glimpse of the Heavenly King's baby daughter.
Andy, who finally fulfilled his life-long wish of being a father, reportedly made special arrangements to go in out of the hospital via a secret passageway. His entourage was said to have used the cargo lift to get to the ward in order to avoid reporters who were staking out the hospital.

Andy's mother, who had specially brewed tonic for Carol, had sent it to the recuperating mum through a maid to avoid being seen by the paparazzi.

In order to protect his daughter from the paparazzi, Andy has made arrangements for her to study in Canada instead of Hong Kong. It is rumoured that the superstar planned to let his daughter start learning various languages including English, Mandarin and French when she is half years old.

In other related news, contrary to speculations that Andy longed for a son, the actor was quoted in a magazine saying "a daughter will be good, I like daughters," during a fan-meeting years ago.

Andy Lau had always treated his fans like family. In 2008, because his secret marriage with Carol Zhu in Las Vegas surfaced, fans all over the world were utterly shocked and crowned him 'The Liar Heavenly King'. Andy wounded the hearts of fans all over the world. As a result, Andy quickly wrote "Sorry" on his official website Andy World Club (ww.awc618.com), he apologized: "I am ashamed that I haven't kept my promise and tell you all first."

After 3 years, 45 year old Mrs. Lau (Carol Zhu) successfully became pregnant and Andy is prepared to become a father this year. However, to avoid repeating history and hiding the news from fans, Andy announced on his official website in November 2011 of the pregnancy. Earlier this month, Andy personally admitted to the media at an event of his wife's pregnancy, but he did not reveal the gender of the baby.

According to sources, Andy once promised at his fan club gathering that if he finds out the gender of his baby, he will tell his fans first thing.

Until the day before yesterday, on the second day of Lunar New Year, it was said Andy met up with nearly a 1000 fans from Andy World Club in Kowloon Bay to celebrate the new year with them. Andy deliberately wore a green long-sleeves shirt to match the new year atmosphere, and had a bright smile on his face as he told fans: "My baby is a girl." Then he said this secret is only for fans to know, and all the fans screamed in excitement. The married Andy then gave out a pair of red envelopes to each of his fans with $10 in each of them, which totals to nearly $20,000.

'Siu Long Lui' to be born in June?

Andy secretly told his fans that he's going to have a girl, the loyal fans kept the secret for their idol. Yesterday Andy posted a few photos of him and his fans as a form of new year greetings to them. Many of his fans responded and didn't reveal the secret: "What you said yesterday, I will not let a single word out! Relax!" However, there are also fans who couldn't hold it in and exposed the news on Weibo: "Congrats to your Siu Long Lui (the baby girl)." Another fan said: "I know about the good news, we'll meet in June then! Happy!" Looks like 'Siu Long Lui' will be born in June.

The Hong Kong singer found out the gender of his baby after taking his wife to an ultrasound scan.

Hong Kong veteran singer Andy Lau has always kept a very low profile when it comes to his personal life.

However, after winning the Best Actor award at the Golden Horse Awards last year, Andy announced that he will soon become a father. Lately, the singer even admitted that his Malaysian ex-beauty queen wife Carol Chu is four months pregnant.

Andy's initial refusal to disclose the gender of his child led to speculations that it was highly possible that Carol is pregnant with a baby girl; there were also rumours which said that she is pregnant with triplets.

According to a recent Hong Kong magazine report, Andy accompanied his wife for a checkup last week and requested the doctor to use the 4D structural ultrasound, which shows clear, real-time images, to determine the gender of the baby.

During the checkup, the singer asked impatiently, "Is it a boy or a girl? Will the baby have a hooked nose like me?"

When the doctor said, "If I'm not mistaken, it's a boy," Andy was so happy that he broke into bouts of hearty laughter.

It is said that Carol will deliver her baby in Hong Kong and to keep his schedule free, Andy reportedly rejected a number of film offers, making a loss of KH$380 million (S$3.08 million).

The singer will be able to spend more time with his wife after February, when he completes the two movies he has on hand.

Andy was also rumoured to have hired Hong Kong's famous gynaecologist He Yong Chao, to help deliver the child.

When asked to clarify the report, the doctor smiled and said, "It's inconvenient for me to comment."

When contacted, Andy's spokesperson in Taiwan expressed, "We do not comment on our artiste's personal life. Thank you for your concern."

The 50-year-old singer and his wife tried various methods, before Carol successfully conceived a baby boy. Hence, the couple has been extra careful in terms of taking preventing measures to protect both mother and child.

Andy not only hired bodyguards, he also engaged two personal nurses to take care of Carol; Andy's mother will also make tonics for her daughter-in-law.

Earlier after Andy Lau won the Golden Horse Film King award for his role in A Simple Life, he announced on his official website that his wife Carol Zhu is pregnant. It was a double happiness for him! When we're all congratulating Andy, we also want to know if Carol is pregnant with a Dragon boy or girl. Yesterday at the A Simple Life promotion, Andy was in a great mood, smiling widely and couldn't hide his happiness. Although he had always avoided to talk about his family, he reveals publicly for the first time that his wife is 4 months pregnant.

Initially Andy didn't want to reveal how many months in the pregnancy his wife Carol was in and even told the media to behave, don't ask. However, after reporters kept pursuing the question, he used Leon Lai's golden phrase 'allow me to be naughty once', Andy finally spoke up: "When I announced the pregnancy, she was 3 months, and now she's 4 months pregnant. My wife is in a pretty good mood." When asked if the baby is a Dragon boy or girl? Andy did not answer and expressed he'll talk about it in private.

When asked if Andy already reserve a delivery room? Did he accompany his wife in the pregnancy courses? Has he purchased books on baby care and postpartum yet? Andy smiled and did not respond to any of the questions. He asked reporters why they are asking so many questions? Reporters expressed because they are too happy for him, Andy said: "I am too!"

Miss Nine" Sheren Tang opened her 'golden mouth' and sang a song at Andy Lau's concert. She exposed that Andy was the first guy she brought back to meet her family.

When Andy introduced Sheren out on stage, he said: "This girl and I were a couple that were friends from childhood. She met me when we were studying, her hard work is seen by everyone, she's known as Miss Nine!" When Sheren came out, she exposed that she gave her 'first time' to Andy, she said: "Andy is the first guy I took to see my Daddy!" Andy said proudly: "Yes! I met her parents!" Turns out that when they were classmates, they played together often and Andy was occasionally a house guest at Sheren's home. Sheren laughed and said that she never thought Andy would use 'a couple who were friends from childhood' to describe their relationship because she had always viewed Andy as a big brother. Andy's hard work never dies, so she made him her striving goal.

Andy recalled the old memories, he said: "I saw that she really wanted to challenge herself, want people to appreciate her acting, so I suggested that she join the training class. I was pretty smart, met an heroine with my intelligant eye. I knew beforehand that she'll eventually become Miss Nine!" Sheren was very grateful of Andy's praises, every time when she's exhausted, she'll rest and sees Andy still hard at work, so she would then remind herself to continue her hard efforts. This time Andy wanted her to sing in HK Coliseum, at first she feared the challenge, but she has to be like Miss Nine, a woman with loyal spirit. Then she sang Star bringing the tone of the blues.

In the past, the two big Pop Kings Andy Lau and Leon Lai would fight bitterly 'You Die, I Live' in the music scene. At the RTHK awards presentation held in HK Coliseum, Leon fans threw glow sticks at Andy when he was on stage. However, the night before, Andy held his concert in HK Coliseum and invited Leon to sing Star together. There were no 'boos' heard in the venue at all, just applause and whistles shook the whole HK Coliseum. The two did their embrace of the century on stage as well. When Andy sang the last line "Please remember me in your heart", Leon deeply answered: "I will", leading to the highest point of the concert.

The first of 20 shows "ANDY LAU UNFORGETTABLE CONCERT 2010" kicked off the night before at HK Coliseum. Andy appeared in his classic styles over the 30 years he's been in the industry, among them were Lau Kin Ming from Infernal Affairs, Wah Dee from A Moment of Romance and there were also many other gentlemen appearances. Then he performed the Tic Tac dance that he's best at. Andy also played with fire, fireworks and lasers to accompany his dances. Throughout the entire night, Andy did not do any safety precautions, looks like audience were very frightened for him. Within HK Coliseum, there was an approximately 40 feet tall Andy Lau Figure on the side of the stage.

Feeling very high, Andy had a full house at his concert. When he allowed fans to hug and shake his hand, fans entered the crazy mood screaming and shouting loudly, even Andy really had put in a lot of effort to make his speech, Andy laughed: "I just wanted to thank you all for letting me go through a 30 year Fairytale. It's that hard, I can't even speak?" Audience were very obedient and controlled their emotions, then quiet down.

Andy continued: "But, afterall fairytale is just a fairytale, if one day I changed to a family man, you all will still love me like this? If one day you encounter me on the streets, hope you'll give me an excited embrace. However, if you happen to take photos of something that shouldn't be taken, please don't put it online. Like if I'm eating fish balls, having a feast with two big thighs, etc!" Followed by his speech, Andy performed Mama I Love You with Deanie Ip, who he always viewed as a mother. Then Andy suddenly turned emotional, letting out a man's tear.

After Andy performed Star with his guest Leon Lai, he expressed he's very happy to see fans welcoming Leon. Appearing nervous, Leon laughed: "Hello everyone, Sometimes I know how to speak, sometimes I don't really know how to. First off, I am very happy that Andy invited me this evening to share his joy with me. Below the stage, I relied on headphones to listen, and this is luck that I normally don't encounter. The experience this time is very heartwarming, I am happy." Then Leon performed Forget Emotions for Andy fans to enjoy.

During the encore, Andy was dressed in a fresh yellow colored suit with shades to do an MJ dance. Soon after, he revealed his 6 pack, giving a feast to fans' eyes. To end, Andy appeared in pajamas, and said: "I'm taking my 30 year most precious time and handing it over to you. Youthfulness, who accompanied you to grow? Senior, who help you teach your sons and daughters? I become old, you try leaving me, I take your life!"

It's rumored Andy Lau's wife Carol Chu is 3 months pregnant, but until today Andy has yet officially announced this good news. Even when being interviewed by a Mainland website, he only talk about work.

As for holding his 30th anniversary concert at the end of the year, Andy expresses it would be memorable and touching. "Very touched, because it's hard to support someone for 30 years. Just like you making a friend, or loving someone, it's also hard to keep the relationship for 30 years," he says. He didn't think about retiring from the industry. "If there are still people who want me to be in their films even when I'm 70, I would do it. If I quit, but come back later, then everyone would doubt whether there is a problem with my family," he says.

Over these years, Andy isn't enthusiastic about breaking into Hollywood. "My attitude is, I don't really mind. Or, is it worthy to spend a lot of time doing this thing? Some people might think it's a glory for Chinese people. Then let me ask, who got a very good career after going to Hollywood? I looked at too many scripts that aren't prepared for Chinese, or only let Chinese to play supporting roles. If they let me play Spiderman now, then I'll say yes," he says.

Earlier last year, 49 year old Andy Lau had always told the public that he is not married and said that when he does get married he will announce it to the world, however, turns out that its all a journey of lies. In 2009, Andy's marriage certificate was exposed to the public, he married Carol Chu in June 2008 in the U.S. Since then he was known as the "Liar King of Pop", Andy only announced his apology and wrote on Weibo that he's only married because he wants children and said that its difficult to have children at an older age. So, will only have to rely on medical technology (artificial insemination) to make it happen. As the couple is required to register first before Hong Kong doctors are allowed to perform the procedure. Clearly, Andy is desperate to have a child before marriage.

Everyone can see what Andy wishes for, yesterday 44 year old Carol Chu was rumored to be pregnant. The media contacted Andy's manager and assistant to confirm. Asked if Carol was pregnant? They both were unwilling to respond.

As for Andy's group of good friends, they also kept their mouths zipped. Yesterday Hacken Lee was asked about the rumor at an event, he expressed: "Outsiders don't know! I don't know!" Asked if he'll tell his good buddies about his wife's situation? He avoided to talk about it. Felix Wong also accepted a telephone interview and was unwilling to respond to the rumors. Looks like everyone is keeping their mouths shut, making it the pregnancy rumors a mystery.

Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau has spent some HK$106 million (S$20 million) on a new home, hoping that the change in feng shui will bring him a child, according to Taiwan reports.

Lau and wife Carol Chu have been trying to conceive for the past one and a half years and have spent over HK$1 million (S$200,000) on fertility treatments without success.

The singer-actor purchased the house at Kadoorie Hill, Mongkok, after engaging the services of a feng shui master.

The master informed Lau that the new house should be kept away from the prying eyes of the public and under tight security. These measures will prevent Chu from being constantly harassed by the paparazzi and allow her to focus on conceiving.

Chu has been under intense media glare since the couple's hush-hush marriage was exposed by the press in August this year. The former Malaysian beauty queen is reported to be uncomfortable and weary of all the attention and hardly leaves her home since arriving in Hong Kong after her father's funeral in August.

Their new home, a two-storey bungalow spanning approximately 1,200 square feet, is surrounded by a high wall and guests have to pass through two security points before reaching the house. The pair are expected to move in before Chinese New Year once renovations are complete.

According to Lau's assistant, the Heavenly King has yet to confirm the report.

He's happy with all the decisions he has made so far, he said, answering questions from local reporters who had asked him what he would change if he could go back in time.

Nothing, he had replied.

The 48-year-old spoke to FiRST yesterday afternoon in a phone interview from Hong Kong where he was promoting his new sci-fi action movie Future X-Cops.

One can't help but relate his answer to his secret marriage exposed in August last year.

Lau had married Malaysian Carol Choo, with whom he has been linked for 24 years, in a secret wedding ceremony in Las Vegas in June 2008.

His credibility took a severe beating last year when his secret was exposed. Just months earlier, he had denied on television that he was married.

Afterwards, Lau apologised for lying to the public and admitted that he had behaved inappropriately for a public figure.

Despite his tainted reputation, Lau told us yesterdaythat he is very close to finding what he thinks is bliss.

Why aren't you there yet, we asked?

His enigmatic response: 'Who knows what blissfulness is?'

Contented

He then added that he was very contented.

'There is no perfection in the world, but I'm very close to where I think I can be with the person I love,' said Lau.

And that, folks, is the closest anyone got the man to talking about his wife.

But almost as if he realised that same thing, Lau tried to draw attention away from that topic.

He interjected almost too quickly, talking about the people who love him, like his supporters.

It isn't hard to figure out why bliss has been elusive for Lau.

His love life has been placed under a magnifying glass. He was tailed by the international press when he attended the funeral of Ms Choo's father in Malaysia last August.

The couple want to have a baby but are still childless.

He also told Apple Daily in Taiwan recently that they 'date' mostly at home. You can easily imagine the pandemonium if the two went shopping and dining in, say, Mongkok.

Lau however told us that the media has been kind to him.

The actor was on a promotional tour to China, Taipei and Hong Kong to plug Future X-Cops in recent weeks.

As expected, reports have focused not so much on the Wong Jing-directed flick but on his marriage.

The media outings are the first time Lau has faced reporters officially after his marriage was exposed.

Tight-lipped

But the singer-actor remained tight-lipped about his love life. He didn't fall prey to our attempts to talk about relationships.

How did you manage to juggle a long romance with your career, when it's especially difficult for a celebrity to keep a relationship?

Lau paused dramatically and said: 'I don't know. It's not convenient for me to say.'

That same answer was uttered when reporters in China and Taiwan probed into his love life.

Though he was always jovial, the actor reportedly lost his cool in Taipei when reporters asked him about getting assisted reproductive technology to conceive a child.

He reportedly looked displeased and told the media to stop asking.

These prying questions don't usually bother him, he told us.

'The media have their work demands. I don't mind them asking but I have my own attitude towards this too,' he said.

'If I'm comfortable with someone, I may reveal some information. Most times, I'll share personal details only with my family.'

But he opened up about his life with MsChoo with Apple Daily in Taiwan recently.

The actor reportedly confessed that he didn't get down on bended knee during his marriage proposal, and that he cooks breakfast for his wife.

He added that they have quarrels but he would apologise first.

Lau appears to be working hard for his money.

Just this year alone, he will release three movies, all of which are action flicks.

Apart from Future X-Cops, there are also the martial arts mystery film Detective Dee, and Jackie Chan's movie Shaolin, which Lau is filming in Hong Kong now.

He told us it wasn't difficult at all wearing a chunky RoboCop-ish costume and getting wired up for scenes in Future X-Cops.

In it, he plays a policeman from the year 2080 who travels 60 years back in time to protect a young boy from cyborg assassins, who are trying to kill the boy to prevent him from growing up to become an influential scientist .

The movie, which also stars Barbie Hsu, Mike He, Charles Chen (aka Blackie) and young actress Xu Jiao of CJ7 fame, opens today.

If Lau could travel back in time, the actor told us, he would return to the time when he was five years old - two years before his paternal grandfather died.

'If I can go back, I want to spend more time with him,' he said.

In the movie, Lau had to film in front of a green screen, which was later enhanced with computer-generated imagery (CGI).

'It was very fun because there are lots of action scenes and I get to fly. In the past, we had to act alone in front of a green screen. But now, we act opposite a partner dressed in green,' he said.
