Kevin Cheng had to turn down the "Bu Bu Jing Xin" sequel to film drama, "Hua Xu Yin", and now the actor has to work at least 16 hours a day in order to conclude filming before his next drama, "Ip Man 2", begins production. Such is the busy life of an actor of his stature.

According to Jayne Stars website, Kevin, who is paid as much as RMB35,000 per episode, is speculated to earn approximately RMB14 million for his starring role in the fantasy drama. However, his decision to join the cast of "Hua Xu Yin" also means that he has to rush and finish the production in May, as the sequel to his mainland drama, "Ip Man" will begin shooting the next month.

An insider revealed, "Kevin told the director that he didn't mind working on a laborious schedule as long as production finishes by the end of May.
He told the crew that the schedule rundown didn't have to accommodate him too much." The actor was also reported to have spent over RMB40,000 from his own pocket money to hire a driver and a recreational van to bring him to the set every day.

He is said to have made the van his "portable home" for him to rest and eat a quick lunch every single day, taking no longer than 20 minutes for every break.

Meanwhile, rumour has it that TVB executive, Virginia Lok has been busy planning for Kevin's return to TVB at the end of the year. The actor has been notified not to take on any mainland projects by the end of the year in order to make room for his TVB schedule.

Expect to see fierce competition between well-loved TVB artistes Wayne Lai, Kevin Cheng and Raymond Lam for the Best Actor award at the upcoming annual Hong Kong TVB Awards on December 17.

Kevin, who has spent most of his time filming dramas in China recently, has been nominated for Best Actor award for his outstanding performance in Gloves Come Off.

However, rumour has it that TVB's high level management has internally decided to ban Kevin from winning top honours for the second consecutive time this year.

An insider revealed TVB's management initially selected Kevin to be the most suitable actor for its upcoming period drama, Cold Mountain Hidden Dragon, scheduled to air in 2013. However, the actor was reluctant and rejected the role immediately as soon as he was informed that former rumoured girlfriend, Charmaine Sheh would be casted as the female lead.

TVB's high level management was reportedly furious with him and had to restructure the entire story plot; Kevin's fellow colleague, Kenneth Ma was offered the role of male lead eventually.

Following Kevin's rejection of the role, the management reportedly reduced his TVB assignments as he was missing from the new dramas that were introduced at the TVB Sales Presentation 2013 last month.

Charmaine was unaware about the rumour on Kevin and commented that "all the details for her new TVB drama in 2013 have not been finalised yet".

Since Kevin is now a popular actor in Mainland, there was a large crowd of tourists surrounding the location and jammed the mall. The event organizers gave Kevin and Ella watches as gifts. When asked if Kevin minds 'filling shoes' for someone? He laughed: "I'm used to it. If I didn't fill someone's third or fourth shoes for Ghetto Justice, then how will there be me today? Keep it coming. However, it turns out Huang Xiao Ming is the spokesperson for this brand, of course it would be most suitable if he came today. Unfortunately he's injured and so I'm filling in for him. I hope Xiao Ming gets well soon.

Yesterday, Kevin didn't have any noticeable scars, he said its not as noticeable because of the makeup. Also, there are no repercussions of the injury. He believes injuries are inevitable when shooting action films. There is a good chance Wayne Lai may get it again." Asked about Ben Wong's anger towards TVB for giving him no nomination? Kevin said: "Hard efforts are not recognized every time. I had the same experience before. We're 20 years of good buddies, there is no need to comfort him."

The other day, Kevin Cheng injured his right eye, bursting the blood vessels, while shooting for Mainland drama Ip Man. He immediately stopped working and flew back to HK for surgery and treatment.

Virgina Lok appeared at the Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital to handle the paperwork for admitting Kevin into the hospital. She said: "I got a call and learned of Kevin's injury. He did not respond. Kevin later accepted an interview over the phone, "I got 10 stitches, the doctor said he used a very thin thread for the stitches and the scar should be very small. That's why I had to get more stitches. I think by next week, when my eye stops swelling, I can start working again. There will bound to be accidents in filming, luckily filming for the series is almost complete. I'm in a hurry, I want to go back and finish it up. (Worried you might be disfigured?) Can't worry or think too much. It has already happened, just got to deal with the circumstances!" Virgina expressed Kevin did not have to do a resurfacing surgery, but will have to go in for a followup visit next week to remove the stitches. Good friend Ben Wong accompanied Kevin to the hospital, he expressed Kevin is doing fine and is still handsome despite the 10 stitches.

Kevin Cheng has been busy shooting for Mainland TV drama Ip Man in Kunshan, where is paid a total of 10 million yuan for participating in this drama. Yesterday he severely injured the corner of his right eye during the filming of a martial arts scene and rushed back to HK for treatment at the hospital.

Yesterday afternoon, the producer of Ip Man was notified that an accident occurred while Kevin was shooting a fighting scene. He injured his the corner of his right eye and it was not a minor injury. He suggested that Kevin immediately go to Shanghai for treatment at the hospital or go back to HK. The photos of Kevin's accident was sent to Virgina Lok for consultation, the doctor in HK recommended that he get the injury treated in Shanghai first, and then come back to HK for follow-up treatments. However, Kevin wanted the doctors in HK to treat him instead, so the crew immediately bought an air ticket for his return. When Kevin landed in HK, he was rushed to the hospital immediately for surgery and may need to get stitches.

Ip Man's producer explained the situation: "Earlier when Kevin Cheng was first invited to take part in this drama, he loved the script, but was hesitant to accept it because he had been working nonstop for 20 months. He was worried he won't be able to physically handle it. Now, filming of Ip Man is wrapping up, there is only ten days left and the fighting scenes are the main focus within these ten days. I believe he truly is exhausted, that's why this accident happened." The producer expressed when Kevin got hurt, it was like a bolt from the blue and the crew stopped filming immediately. The health of each and every one of the actors are important. "Artists rely on their face to make a living and the injury this time is on his face, that is heartbreaking to me. We all feel heartbroken." Although Kevin was injured, he still insisted to continue and finish the scene first.

TVB executive Virgina Lok was asked how serious Kevin's injury was? She said: "I still haven't gotten the details yet, I just know it's not a minor injury. We have already made arrangements for him to be back in HK for treatment. (Worried Kevin might get a scar?) He's a little unhappy, but he's a man, it's no problem. However, he has a lot of other things to worry about because he has to attend an event tomorrow, but now we will have to see how to resolve it."

Ip Man's lead actress, Chrissie Chau, was very shocked when she learned her partner was hurt, "I already completed my scenes. I just got back to HK a few days ago, I'm very worried about Kevin's condition, hope he gets better soon."

Mainland TV drama Ip Man held a press conference in Suzhou yesterday. The cast including Kevin Cheng, Chrissie Chau, Cecilia Han and Yuen Wah all attended to help promote. When Kevin was playing games with the audience, he generously gave out hugs and neglected Chrissie. When Cecilia Han talked about her relationship with Kevin in the drama, she couldn't hide her sweetness, she frankly expressed she tried to learn more about Kevin by using food: "We're both slow starters. Later, we had intimate scenes and it went very smoothly. Once I see his eyes, I get the feelings!"

When the event organizers showed the trailer, Kevin was seen with powerful momentum standing by the wooden stump, in a long white gown. However, Kevin expressed he cannot be compared to Donnie Yen, "Of course films are a lot more exquisite than TV series. Also, Donnie is initially a good fighter, I started from zero, but I believe the outcome is going to be pretty good!" In regards to Cecilia took initiative trying to get to know him, Kevin said there is no such thing: "Giving food is nothing unusual. I will also buy her foods too. Each day after I finish shooting, I have to rehearse the fighting scenes, so I have no time at all. We rarely communicated and don't keep in touch outside of filming." When asked if there were any females that knocked on his door? Kevin laughed: "Ghost? There's ghost in Kunshan? Of course not!" He also expressed he never thought shooting this series would be more difficult than Burning Flames III.

As there is currently protests in Suzhou? Kevin said: "I rarely go out, I believe its not an issue. I hope for less civil unrest, otherwise people will laugh at us. We should be facing problems in a gentle manner. Just boycotting Japanese goods is already causing great harm to Japan!"

Chrissie expressed she never thought she had a naked back scene on the first day of work: "The scene was about me trying to motivate myself to get back on my feet because I had a leg injury. Fortunately it was just revealing my back, nothing special to see. Of course, the set was cleared, so not too embarrassing." She also expressed she was very nervous when she had to do a passionate kiss scene with Kevin.

Back then, it was rumored Kevin Cheng and his 'underground girlfriend' Niki Chow broke up due to a third party, Charmaine Sheh. Since then, their relationship turned completely incompatible. After 4 years, it was recently rumored that Kevin sparked love with Christine Kuo after collaborating in Ghetto Justice II last year. As for Niki, she had a brief relationship with the Textile Prince (Eric), but after they broke up, her love life remained dry.

It was understood, because of Christine's good looks, nice body shape and her Western personality, many TVB male artists like her. However, Kevin is also one of the seun poons (best deal) in TVB City and a TV King. Kevin and Christine got more and more familiar after shooting Ghetto Justice II and love sparked from the kiss scene.

An insider reveals, Kevin and Christine's relationship grew rapidly, but they didn't want to make it public yet, so they've been in an underground relationship all along. Just when Christine becomes Kevin's girlfriend, Niki suddenly gets back into the picture and stops Christine from keeping her golden seun poon.

It was understood, when Niki attended Toby Leung's wedding last December and met Kevin again, they were no longer on bad terms. That day, Charmaine Sheh also kept glaring at Niki in fear that she and Kevin will get back together. According to the insider, although Niki had been unconvinced all along that Kevin gave up on her to be with Charmaine, she still couldn't forget him. Also, after she broke up with the Textile Prince, she hoped to reconcile with Kevin.

However, after Toby's wedding, Kevin rushed back to Hengdian to work on Mainland drama Hero, and coincidentally Niki also started focusing on the Mainland market at this time. It was understood, whether if they were in Hengdian or Shanghai, Niki and Kevin would still make time for brief secret meetings each night. In fact, earlier this February when Niki was asked if there was a chance she and Kevin could get back together? She said: "Why not ask him! I'll throw the ball over to him!" In May, she was asked again whether if she seen Kevin or not? She said: "We've been rumored for so long, I don't think it matters!"

Even if Niki and Christine are love rivals and unsure of the other party's situation with Kevin, they still want to compete for the "Mrs. Kevin" status. One is an ex-lover, while the other is a new love interest, it looks like Kevin is trapped in a dilemma. Despite knowing about Kevin and Christine, Niki did not care and continues to secretly meet him.

Reporters contacted Niki's manager to ask about the reconciliation rumors. She said: "We do not get involve in artists' personal lives. Niki is attending a public event tomorrow, you all can ask her then." The day after tomorrow is Kevin's birthday, wonder how they'll celebrate!

Niki - Not Many Guys VS Kevin - Many Girls

Kevin and Niki's relationship started after their collaboration in 2003's Hard Fate. At the time, they were in an underground relationship, but thereafter, they worked in separate places and with the addition of the Charmaine Sheh rumors, they eventually ended their 5 year relationship. After the breakup, Niki and Kevin went on with their own lives, but the 42 year old Kevin is still surrounded by girls!

NIKI

When the break up rumors broke out in 2008, Niki's sister Kathy Chow introduced her to Textile Prince (Eric). The two had a low-key relationship for two years, but broke up last year.

KEVIN

Charmaine Sheh (2008): Kevin got together with Charmaine behind Niki's back. The most classic was back then, Charmaine went to Kevin's home in Sai Kung and everyone in the neighborhood saw Charmaine in Kevin's home. However, they only had a two year relationship before breaking up. Charmaine also admitted they've dated before.

Jenny Tsui (2010): This China model was spotted staying at Kevin's Sai Kung house for 3 days, but it was rumored Kevin was displeased by someone using him for publicity. Once the relationship surfaced, it ended there as well.

Ying Er (Early 2012): Kevin and this 23 year old actress collaborated in Mainland drama Hero, but acting turned into real feelings. They were photographed at a night club drinking, but Kevin denied that they dated.

Annie Liu / Cecilia Liu (March 2012): Kevin got popular in Mainland from Startling By Each Step and had rumors with his two co-stars Annie and Cecilia. They often chat on Weibo.

TVB Siu Sangs Raymond Lam, Bosco Wong and Ron Ng have recently been involved with Mainland actresses, from last year until this year, 'Law Ba' Kevin Cheng has been shooting in Mainland for 10 months straight. Also, after Startling By Each Step becoming a major hit, Kevin is worth a lot more and became TVB's highest earning artist. The single Kevin was praised by the Mainland media that he's a 'seun poon' (good deal), its basically unbelievable that no girl would want him.

Refuse to be Third Party

Many people say Mainland girls are hard to resist, therefore many male artists fall for them. In the many months Kevin has been working in Mainland, he has seen a lot of beauties around, but has he been enticed before? "Don't make it sound that serious, but if your talking about having feelings and interests, if I say no, then I would be lying to you. However I am that type that if I don't have any feelings or interest, then I won't give her the wrong signal. Shouldn't be wasting their time or my time. Also, the actresses that I worked with earlier, the majority them already had boyfriends. Those with boyfriends are really not to be messed with, I don't like to be involved with such complicated relationships. I'm not young anymore, at this age, I want to find a wife."

Will Kevin avoid dating Mainland girls? Kevin said: "Actually the only difference between Mainland and HK girls is the language, both are still Chinese. I really don't know whether my future wife will be a foreigner, someone from Hong Kong or Mainland. Don't write about me only wanting to be with certain people, I didn't set too many requirements, as long as there is fate and we can click. If I like her, then I don't care what others think."

About his past rumors, Charmaine Sheh, was rumored with him for the longest and they were even rumored to have gotten back together. Kevin said: "Charmaine and I are friends, but I really don't dare to meet with her. We could just be having a simple meal together, but when we get photographed, there are huge headlines. To avoid trouble, we don't meet up at all." Isn't that a pity? She could have been your true love? "Aiya! I haven't rested for 19 months straight, busy to death, just leave it then."

To Open a Studio Next Year

Shooting in Mainland, aside from the high pay, it has also given Kevin an opportunity to start another type of business. Next year, he plans to open his own studio and start shooting his own TV series. Kevin: "This is true. I hope this can happen next year. Opening a studio, meaning I'm going to produce my own TV series. I have already started looking for good scripts, a good series must have a good script. Or perhaps I'll buy the copyrights to a few best-selling novels and make an adaptation. If the role is suitable for me, I can also do the acting as well. I'm currently saving up. What I want to shoot the most is a war series, like the Zhang Xueliang legend. However, producing a series will require a lot of capital, so that definitely won't be my first series to produce, the first series should be something small and also must be a joint investment. That's how I can learn." Continuously shooting several Mainland dramas, Kevin was able to see which are the best directors, what is the best lighting and the most important is to know how to control the budget. "Yes, the more I shoot, the more information I gather. I can see which artists are good, what crews are outstanding and which are honest productions. At work, there are lot of inspirations."

Following the two big Film Kings Tony Leung and Donnie Yen, TV King Kevin Cheng is going to make Ip Man another legend. A television giant in Mainland is investing into producing a TV series version of Ip Man. Just who is our first choice to take on the role as the legendary Ip Man? This time, Kevin defeats the rumored candidates Vincent Zhao, Wallace Huo and Wu Chun for the Ip Man role. It seems like 'Law Ba' will definitely become TVB's top gold digger.

Initially after Kevin completed 3 Mainland series earlier this year, for the rest of the year, he was planning to focus entirely on recording for his new album. However, because he saw the Ip Man TV series script, he really liked it. Also the salary was 280,000 RMB per episode, which is higher compared to his previous paychecks, and it is estimated his income will end up with 7 million RMB, so he was unable to resist the 'temptation'. After becoming 'double TV King' last year based on the 'Law Ba' role in Ghetto Justice, the title brought Kevin Cheng many gold digging opportunities in Mainland. To keep this momentum, next week's premiere of the sequel Ghetto Justice II cannot fail. For the sequel, Kevin added more to it, on the premiere week he'll have a chain of intense kiss scenes with Myolie Wu and even added his own scene, where he slaps Myolie's butt. Kevin directed his own 'scum' scenes to accommodate the Law Ba and 'Law Yau' (Myolie) gag.

Kevin revealed it was his idea to slap Myolie's butt: "Well the scum stuff is on me. She's my girlfriend, I'm Law Ba and the neighbors call her 'Law Yau', so this scene is pretty funny!" He expressed he has great expectations for the sequel, but he's not sure if the Olympics will affect the ratings.

When speaking of the nonstop kiss scenes, Myolie and Kevin both expressed because they're already a couple in the sequel, so it's reasonable. Myolie said: "I was a little nervous in the first season (part 1), but now that we're more familiar, we have a lot more chemistry. There is even a feeling like we're newly weds, this time the kiss scenes get very hot. (Sparks?) He's like a brother to me!"

Asked if she's afraid boyfriend Bosco Wong might get jealous? Myolie said: "Nope! We're just filming! I'm actually afraid Kevin's fans might get jealous, he's so popular. (A couple team with Kevin?) I am very confident this time, but I want to be a wild couple!" She reveals they create new sparks in the sequel because Christine Kuo gets in between them as the third party. In one scene, Christine got too agitated that there was a car flipping accident too.

Kevin Cheng will be releasing a new album soon, yesterday he attended Porsche Design's store opening ceremony. When asked about Ah Sa's live performance earlier, where she got off-key? Kevin defended her and said humans aren't robots, he said: "Have to see their physical condition at the time, it's hard to get the perfect pitch every time. Not that big of a deal. (Leon Lai can also get off-key during live performances?) Yes! Heavenly King can too!" Kevin reveals his new album will center on slow songs. He laughed and said he's been practicing his singing in the shower, in hope to prevent the embarrassing moment of getting off-key. In the next few days, I'll be heading over to Beijing to attend the Hua Ding awards, competing for the Best Actress award. I have okay confidence, my opponents are strong!"

Since the broadcast of Gloves Come Off, the series has won public praises and this is the week of the finale. In the series, aside from all the boxing scenes, Kevin Cheng and his son "Lo Kut" father-son relationship has earned hot tears. Lo Kut's real name is Henry Leung (Chi Ho), a 10 years old who performs exceptionally well in school. He's one clever little boy, when memorizing his lines, he just looks at it once and his photograhic memory takes action. During filming, little Henry often bravely challenges Kevin in seeing who can memorize their lines and have the least NGs.

Lo Kut treats the set as if it was a playground and often gets sweaty from all the playing. He said: "My parents have to go to work, and rarely takes me out to the playground. It's been at least two years since I've been to one." Having such a good time playing, but once a family member says stop, Lo Kut behaves and goes straight back to his family and does not make a fuss at all.

Kevin has once described his on-screen son Lo Kut as '寸寸哋' ('chyun' - a little cocky). He said: "If I had a good life, I would want a son with his personality. There will only be sparks with Lo Kut's personality and the outcome was great." Lo Kut is not considered cute, but he has a smart and clever look. Lo Kut will turn 10 in October, and is currently in the fourth grade. He's an excelled student, ranking fourth place in his class. He scores the highest in his class in general knowledge, mathematics and English grammer. He is also the SGA vice president and a leader at the library. In all, he's a leader in school.

When asked if Lo Kut likes acting? He answered: "It's fun." Then he suddenly exposed: "Only in the series I can have a Boxing King father!" What if he has to take a test in school, how does he study and film? Lo Kut gave an earnest answer: "I do all my homework at school and at home, study first. Then I can focus on my acting and shooting the series."

Competes with Kevin on who NGs the least

In Gloves Come Off, Lo Kut is an 8 year old boy, but he had always liked to play with his big brothers and sisters, so he has a great relationship with Kevin: "The first time I met 'Lo Dai' (or Big Brother) Kevin, he asked me: 'However you usually call your dad, just call me the same way!' I've actually started off calling him 'Lo Dau', but then somehow it turned to 'Lo Dai'. I still call him that now. He also told me to watch Chow Yun Fat's All About Ah-Long."

In the series, Lo Kut and Kevin's parent-son activity is to compete on memorizing lines. Lo Kut said: "We race to see who can memorize our lines the fastest, then we practice together and see who would get it wrong." Lo Kut's elder sister accompanied him on this interview, she said: "Sometimes when its time to start shooting, my brother is still playing, but then Kevin would ask: 'Your playing here? Have you memorized all your lines yet? The upcoming scene is very important!' Then my brother would answer him: 'Let's see who's going to NG first then?!' My brother is really good at memorizing lines, he practices with me once at home, and won't need to look at it again once he's on the set. Even if the lines change at the last minute, he won't get it wrong, so whenever my brother and Kevin compete on who NGs the least, he rarely loses."

Lo Kut's real father was at the side pointing a finger at his son, he laughed: "I don't know how, but he can even remember the long lines. Tell him to cry and he cries immediately. Before I didn't know he can act. He even exchanged phone numbers with Kevin, but we don't even have Kevin's number." Lo Kut expressed he and Kevin have been keeping in touch: "He would ask me how I'm doing on my homework and tells me to eat more! I call Lo Dai and set a meeting in June for Father's Day, but he's not going to be in HK. I told him I'll wait until he gets back to HK first!"

Three years ago, Lo Kut's mother had a friend recommend him to shoot a commercial, and since then a director spotted him. He has been in music videos, films, educational programs and on RTHK.

Yesterday on Eileen Cha's radio interview, Kevin Cheng exposed when he attended the event at the racecourse a few days ago, a reporter said they got a secret letter that reveals Kevin accompanied ex-girlfriend Linda Wong for an abortion 18 years ago. Kevin emotionally expressed: "The reporter said because of this Linda still don't have any children today and has to go through IVF. Actually, Linda has a happy family now. Don't make up these news, should do more good deeds instead. These harmful news that damages other people's families and marriages, can't make something out of nothing and there is no evidence, it is all fabricated!"

To avoid affecting Linda, Kevin frankly expressed he already told Linda of the rumor: "I told her to call her husband and get the lay the foundation back. Some things, I cannot control, so what's important now is to face the issue. But, Linda and her husband have mutual trust for each other! Linda said having children is fate, if she doesn't have any, then she doesn't have any." Kevin said he does not mind his past relationship with Linda being brought up again, each individual has their own past and memories. For him, these memories are very precious.

Last year Kevin Cheng and Annie Liu were rumored after collaborating in popular Mainland drama Startling by Each Step. Recently, TVB has acquired the series and will broadcast on their PayVision channel. Yesterday the rumored couple and producer (Lee Kwok Lap) promoted for the series together. Kevin and Annie coincidentally appeared in matching 'jean' outfits, seriously showing their compatibility! Perhaps due to the rumors, Kevin and Annie kept their distance at the event and didn't have too many interactions. When they were introducing their characters, Kevin took advantage of the time to clarify the rumors. Later, the two were asked to take photos together, but stood far apart. It was not only until the media requested that Kevin placed his arm on Annie's shoulder. Annie just smiled foolishly in response.

As the two were in matching jean outfits, Annie smiled and said its the fashion trend this year. Then why did she and Kevin avoid each other at the event? She said: "Didn't avoid, it's just my Cantonese is not that great!"

Kevin was asked if Annie's his cup of tea? He said: "She likes to drink water, I like Cola! (Annie is a pretty girl though!) And that means she's my girlfriend? (Touched your heart?) The same, we're just friends and colleagues. I've already denied N times."
